  • I phoned sky and told them I had been offered the sky plus upgrade for free last week but had to consider it and now I would like to take it up (also wanted 2 multirooms installed), today I expected to get the 40gb box that others have had for free but the chap installed a brand new 80gb one!!
Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together. :p

This sounds good to me but I'd have to do it myself.

I had Sky + installed a few weeks back but I still have the old sky box.

If I was to put the sky box in another room by the sounds of it I could then just lead another cable from the satellite to the old box. Is that correct?

Is it straight forward were I would need to connect the cable to the satellite and also is would I be up and running straight away with 'Freesat' or would I need to ring and activate it.

    Cheers for the help.

It's dead easy to install it yourself.
We self installed multiroom into our bedroom.
Drilled a hole in the wall, bought cable and attachments from Homebase.
Then climbed the ladder to the dish and simply connected it to one of the spare sockets.

Took less than 20 mins to do.

I seem to think it picks up most Freesat channels straight away, but to get them all you have to phone and activate with a new card. Sky charged £10 for the card when we did it.

We swiftly updated it to full Sky Multiroom, though Sky got a bit !!!!ed off that we self installed....

  • I'm thinking of cancelling my SKY as we have now finished the 6 months half price SKY SPORTS package, which I got when I threatened to cancel 6 months ago.

The only problem is that at XMAS I got the PREM PLUS season ticket -so if I cancel SKY will I lose my PREM PLUS subscription?

By reading the threads on here I dont think threating to Cancel, will lead to any short terms for existing SKY+ customers - might switch to VIRGIN though, after the footie season has finished.

We cant get the SKY TV/BB/Phone package as our telephone exchange isnt LLU enabled which would have meant free BB from our SKY SPORTS subscription.

  • MSE newb here

Just got off the phone from VM, spoken to them a few times over the last couple of days and even in the evening i talked to someone within 15 mins and they've quite helpful.

I was on an old ntl package paying £47.00 per month consisting of the following i think (converted to VM)

    BB L
    TV XL
    Phone M

Spoken to nice lad called Sunny and have changed to

    BB L
    TV XL
    Phone L
    V +
    for £50.00 per month

I've got 30 days to try out the V+, if i don't think it is worh having at the moment i can get the above without V+ for £35.00.

    I'm happy
