Hi
I need some advice - I signed up for freesat from sky approx a year ago - never felt like signing up from one of their packages so just did the £150 freesat option. At the end of January we received a letter from sky obviously trying to entice us to sign up to a package by offering us the full range of sky channels for the month of February. The letter stated that this offer would be switched off at the end of the month.
The thing is it's now March 2nd and all the channels are still available. If I should happen to watch one every now and again ie not tell them they haven't switched it off - can they turn round and demand money even though I have no subscription with them?
I would be grateful for any help/advice.0 -
the free (look what you could have) month ends today so i was told by sky so i assume it should be turned off tonight,not that i got it mind! but i did as far as they are concerned lolololol ;-):dance: " i wanna be the minority! " :dance:0

Well after canceling sky two months ago, today someone from a 3rd party company rang me asking if i would be interested in becoming a customer again.....the 1st question i was asked was if i had joined virgin media, when i said no but i was thinking about it.....i got the speal about why sky was so much better, cheaper and triple package being so much better.
When i said the reason i left was becuase my box doesnt work properly he said that he could proberly arrange a free replacement, but as sky was trying to make the Sky+ box the default box, it would mean that i would have to agree to a £37pm subscription for a minimum of 12months.
On the plus side the wasn`t no pressure, he said he`d arrange the info to be sent out, but i had to ring their office not sky if i wanted the sky+ box.
Anyone else had this???
I was leaning towards the virgin media route, but am not in no rush to decide.0 -

I have the £20 Freesatfromsky card and also got the package for free for Feb and it's still on today 2 March but I think it will go off in the next day or two. I also received a letter yesterday saying hope you enjoyed the free month and offering a special deal like two mixes for £7.50,four for £9,six for £10.50 etc for the next 12 months.
I will just be staying with the FTA channels as there's nothing on Sky I would pay for but I think some people will take up their offer.0 -
GET RIGHT IN! Just rang to upgrade to SKY+, got a deal for £49 for the box, NO INSTALLATION plus we're still paying £37 a month and didn't have to upgrade to sky movies! Thank you so much for all the ammo everyone supplied me with on this forum! It definitely pays to be as nice as you can, speak sincerely about how loyal you have been as a SKY customer and of course mention the word CANCEL! Also, just like another person did on this forum, mention that a 'Friend' got offered the deal before Xmas and they got it installed 2 weeks ago (or just mention that another 'friend' rang up and got the same deal)! When through to cancellations, repeat exactly what you said to the rep in the sales department to the rep in the cancellations department and BINGO, he/she will hopefully go away from the phone and give you a deal! Today is a good day! (Ring 08000512595)0

Also I've started to compare what I pay with cable against what I could pay with Sky:
My Cable= Broadband 4mb unlimited download £25
Telephone line rental £10.50
Telephone cost evenings and weekends £5.50
Basic TV (no Sky) £5.50
Total = £46.50 per month.
Sky Max= Broadband 16mb unlimited download £10
Telephone line rental £11
Telephone cost, unlimited day, evening and weekends to land-lines £5
Basic Sky TV £15
Total = £41 per month.
My son recently told Virgin Media (previously NTL customer) that he was leaving to join Sky for TV & Broadband with a new BT line. They rang back with a new offer which I have taken up for my NTL contract.
Previously I was paying £24.99 for 4mb Broadband and £24.99 for telephone on the 24/7 unlimited deal. After speaking to customer services I now have the same TV & Broadband but for £25 a month for life with the offer of free installation and use of the basic Virgin TV package should I want it. There is also the offer of a Virgin Mobile SIM card at £10 per month with 300 minutes/ 300 texts and unused roll over for one month.
Family and friends have had similar reductions and offers saving anything from £23 to £30 per month. Apparently these new deals are available to any exisitng customer but you have to ask for them or wait until Virgin contact you. I made contact through 01642 88 03 88 but that is a number specific to my local area. My brother in law was redirected to his local area which was previously Telewest and got a similar deal.
I was also told that Virgin are planning to upgrade their basic broadband service to 10 mb soon. The two cheaper options will be 10mb but will have differnt download limits. I think he said the top package will then be about 50 mb .
Maybe more can be squeezed but its worth a phone call.0 -
Hi all
I rang Sky to try the "free trial" 12 months half price deal but as an existing customer they refused saying it was only for freesat customers - so went through to cancellations who said they have no package deals at the moment, no HD upgrade deals as Virgin V+ box only has BBC HD channel, not movies and sports so they have no need to compete:mad: . If it wasnt for SKY 1 i would cancel immediately and go to Virgin but as soon as thsis series of 24 finishes i'm off!!!:T
Incidentaly, I have got 10mb BB and Talk unlimited 24 for £25 per month with Virgin which I think is a good deal and worth the phone call if people reading this want the same.:j didnt really need to haggle - just said thats what i wanted and they agreed:beer:Never pass up the opportunity to take a pee!:p0 -

Had to wait over an hour - but got the same deal!
