  • SKY VIEWERS SAVE BIG TIME!
If you are current Sky customer and only use sky to view the 100 or so channels then check out FREE SAT. Originally I went to the site and noticed that the cost to have it installed is £150, HOWEVER, if you already have SKY and the contract is expiring (30 days notice) then call to DOWNGRADE your package. You then need to call Freesat and order a Freesat card for £20. This will give you all the Freesat channels (120 or so). The freesat card gets used in your current digibox from SKY. If you just end your contract and do not purchase the Freesat card then don't worry, you'll still receive all freeview channels (no need to purchase a freeview box).
Apart from the initial saving of £160 (if you pay £15 a month) you'll save in the coming years aswell as the card and Freesat is FREE for life (apparently).
This may not be good for people who will miss "Bravo" or "BUYCRAPTV", etc, but for most people this may cover all essential TV (COPS and Emmedale).

What extra channels do you get buying the freesat card rather than just cancelling sky and getting the freeview channels?

    NONE!

I think the above poster has wasted his £20 as you get all the same channels with an ex subscription card.

  • Got a flyer from Skythis morning SKY+ for £49 fitted job lot.

Gonna ring for it later today.
  • I agree with Iju. If you cancel your Sky contract you are effectively downgrading you viewing card to Freesat. It is the same thing.
The Freesat offer is for people who do not have a dish and digibox.

    Search this thread.

There is a post detailing all the current offers.

Thou some of them have already been withdrawn.
Such as the half price for three months when you move house. Which I have just done.

So currently no incentive offered to keep my custom.
