  • I'm a new member on here - I have Telewest high speed Broadband and Phone - cost £36 a month and Sky with Sports for £40.50 a month. Telewest have offered me - and I have accepted the Starter package TV combined with my existing phone and Broadband for £35 a month - saving £1. In addition Sky Sports package or and additional £22 a month. My total cost being £57 a month as opposed to £76.50 a month. In addition Sky told me - dont cut up viewing card - use it for Freesat.
Also One-Tel provide me with boxes to plug into my Phone sockets so that I can use them without dialling pre-fix numbers to get much cheaper calls than Telewest.

  • My friend went in for a competition and won a topuptv anytime box.
Now they require him to pay up in order to activate the viewing card.
He does not havge a bank account and is in hospital. His only income
is £18 per week (YES, £18 per week is all they pay after you been in
    hospital for 1 year).
So thank you topuptv for sending him a worthless prize; he already has freeview.
I reckon topuptv have been taking lessons from Murdoch's SKY outfit
to see if they can come up with a bigger SCAM than SKY!

P.S. The £190 is the amount showing on the bill that they sent for monthly
susbscriptions. And hello, what about the first month free; well for that one has to sign up on direct debit.

Has anyone else suffered from the Telewest TV Drive catastrophe that happened on Saturday afternoon and had any compensation offered?
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Just phoned sky to upgrade to sky plus. Was quoted £99 for the box and £49 for installation. Stated I was not happy with this price as I had a 'friend' (as seen on a previous post) whom paid £99 no installation fee or multi room. The advisor I was speaking to would not budge stating that there is no such deal. I therefore asked to be put through to cancellations. I relayed all this again and expressed my anger as a long standing customer (12 years plus) at not being offered the same continuity of service as my 'friend'. The advisor went away for a short while and came back with the offer of £49.00, NO INSTALATION FEE, NO REQUIREMENT OF MULTIROOM (as i currenly have sky sports 1&2 Premium channels) AND NO CHANGE TO MONTHLY PAYMENTS of £37.50. Decided this is the best deal i am going to get right now especially as my current sky box is on the blink and they are quoting £65 for an engineer to come out to fix it. I have therefore ordered the box the only downside is that they cannot fit until the 2nd Jan. Therefore no sky tv for me over christmas.

Ps The cancellations advisor asked me not to tell my 'friend' that I had been offered a better deal. However as my 'friend is this thread I cannot keep this promise can i. :A

Well I have this morning received a bill up to 31.1.07 even though we have CANCELLED and should be cut off 1.1.07 and have paid up to then as well!!!!
They apparently have no record of our phone calls but I do have names/days/times of the last 2 phone calls as they keep pi**ing around with us and we have learnt to do this will this make a difference?
Can they make us pay if they say they "have no record" though we have phoned up 4 times in the last month??? Once was to cancel, once to pay the last bill (and check it was cancelled- it apparently wasn't) and twice more to check it was cancelled-they said it was!
Now my oh has to phone cancellations AGAIN tonight. If they try to make us pay we can't anyway even if we wanted to as we're in terrible debt but obviously we don't want to pay it as we have genuinely tried and tried to cancel this is stressing me out so badly.
    They won't let us escape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • As I reported earlier, we cancelled in November and were finally switched off in early December. Despite being a long-term customer (early analogue days) Sky made no attempt whatsoever at that time to retain my custom. Today I finally recieved a call from Sky customer service wanting to regain my custom. The big offer in order to tempt me back was an enormous 10% off my monthly subscription for three months. My response was somewhat less than enthusiastic and I declined their gracious offer.

I am convinced that Sky have blundered in allowing people to disconnect. In relation to the 5 terrestrial channels, I always thought £21 was "tolerable" for the extra channels. However, having now seen how many of those are actually subscription free, I now find it impossible to value the remainder at £21! Its annoying not to have some of the kids channels during the holidays, but dvd's etc are perfectly able to fill the gap.

Its likely Sky have lost this customer for good.

I was in a discussion with a Sky rep the other day, about sky plus or hd,and after paying my outstanding bill, the subject of the reclaiming bank charges was discussed.Anyway, after explaining about this site, the rep told me that if i waited until the end of January, then Sky+ would be free for customers and hd boxes would be £49 installed.

Received a letter this morning saying I will be disconnected on 31.01.07 should be 01.01.07

THEY'RE STILL NOT LETTING ME GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Sky Update - they still have not contacted us, so no deals for long term customers lol!!

So, after weighing up the pros and cons i.e. eventually Lost etc will be played on terrestrial tv and we can wait!! Found it hard without sky for a few weeks but over that now :o

We have now decided to restart our Amazon dvd rental but upgraded to higher option of £7.99 per month which enables us to have two dvds at one time upto four per month. We had previously used this service and were always able to get the dvds we wanted (sometimes a short wait).

So we will always have a film to watch if there is absolutely nothing to watch on the tv ;)

This choice is still cheaper by half than sky minimum package and at least we won't have the choice of films we have already seen :D

Can't wait for Sky to phone looking forward to saying "too late you lost yet another customer, isn't it about time that you realised you need to value your customers, :T .

Anyway hope all this doesn't sound too garbled :o

Hi Janner Boy, the Sky number I called yesterday was 08701 942098. They offered me Sky+ for £49 with £60 installation and this is what I booked ...... it's being installed on Friday just in time for Christmas.

Sky tried to sell me multiroom but I declined and they confirmed that my monthly subscription won't increase because of Sky+ because we already have the movies/sports channels.

Remember to use free phone numbers...
