Hi All
Finally falling foul to the lure of Sky HD
Spent 2 years on free view with sky box and free card (kindly left by previous occupant as sky is the only way to receive ANY TV signal) Also private road so NTL won't touch us
Now with a new HD TV, both me and the kids would love HD Movies and more channels
Just phoned Sky using the free number, and there are no deals at the momentLooks like £47 for the 6 Mix, Movies and Sky HD plus £299 for the box and £60 installation.
This is after being kept on hold for 10mins to check if there are any offers!!!
Needless to say not going with sky just yet!!!!
Unless you have any other current tips or hardball tactics
Any advice more than welcome
Thanks

We are moving soon, and will not be taking Sky with us. I have had Sky for more years I care to remember, and although I have Sky+ and love its functions, we shall be going the Freeview and HDD route. I am fed up of paying so much money for all the channels of rubbish I don't even watch. Paying the extra £10 a month for multiroom and £10 a month to have Sky+ is a waste of money IMO. Don't think I will miss Sky at all.0

Take the Sky digibox and dish with you. Put it on your new house and you will still have the FTA (free to air) and FTV (free to view) channels.
Get a Freeview box and connect it to the aerial and you will get some channels that are subscription channels on Sky but free with Freeview.0 -
You dont have to pay the service charge of £65 if you box breaks... threaten to cancel and they will either charge you half price or if you good at bluffing, hold out for FREE fix of ur box!! Cool!!!0

well our Sky finally got cut off yesterday after many many problems and I have to say I am very pleased with how many fta channels we are left with, there's still loads and enough for the kids which was my worry I can't believe I was paying £36.95 a month for those few extra channels I must have been mad!!!!0

I moved house at the end of October and managed to negotiate 25% off my Sky Package for a year which I was pleased with.
I also spoke to Telewest and got offered the reduced price of £28.50 per month for the Telewest 10Mb Broadband Service including a free telephone line rental. The Elite service is normally £40 per month plus £11 line rental so I agreed to stay with Telewest instead of signing up for another Broadband provider.
When I received the Telewest paperwork it stated that the price shown on my contract may not be the same as the special price but that the correct amout would be debited each month and did not show the special price.
When I received the first bill it was for the old amount and when I spoke to Telewest Customer Service they denied I had been offered the £28.50 per month offer and tried to renegotiate.
I told them to cancel the service and they reluctantly agreed to charge me £28.50 for three months and told me I could call in every three montyhs and request the lower rate - though they also agreed to offer me the 4Mb Broadband Service and line rental for £28.50 on a permanent basis.
On a more positive note, the Virgin Mobile SIM offer of £10 per month for 300 anytime/any network minutes/300 texts is awesome. You can have two SIMS per Telewest/NTL account but is takes a bit of patience getting Virgin to sort the SIMS out.
I am extremely disappointed in the approach that Telewest are adopting (they refuse to put their offers in writing) and think they may be deliberately offering low prices but still charging at the higher price - catching any customers who do not check their direct debit payments.0
