I've been having problems with my Sky+ for a few months now. I just wondered if anyone else had had the same problems? It's mainly with Channel 4 though it does occasionally happen with other channels though not to the same extent. Basically the sound breaks up, there are big gaps in the sound and when it comes back it's out of synch so makes the programme impossible to watch. A while back I was watching and recording a programme and it happened too so I assume it's the signal not the recording??
I tried ringing Sky a couple of months ago but they just said they could send someone out for £65 which I wouldn't pay. I argued that I'd had the box less than 12 months so they should send someone out for free. Apparently though the 12 month warranty starts from when I got my original box (over 12 months ago) rather than from when they replaced it as it wasn't working (February I think).
Just wondered if anyone else was having the exact same problems. I have a feeling they might tell me it's to do with the weather, but it seems very severe for just a weather problem??? Any advice? I have nothing to barter with as (thanks to this thread) got a 6 month half price deal a few months ago.

Called today to find out more about sky HD. No offers on the £299 for the box. Not sure how Mclaren from previous post managed to get it for £149. Also told I would only get Sky Box office HD if I took out the sky movies package. Is this true?
anyway said it was too expensive for too few channels. Sales person then asked if i wanted sky +. Asked if they were doing offers for existing customers. she initially said no. i said friend had got it for £49 with free install. She said offer had run out but since i had heard the deal she would do it for me if i took it out today. and asked specifically if it was new box NOT REFURB. assured it was. so i said ok. called free phone no. and did not have to hang around too long. am pleased with results.0 -

Did you take multiroom and if so are you paying £10 for that as well as £10 for the Sky+?sufferinsnickerinrickrastadley0 -
devonpilgrim wrote:hello all, just called back Sky to see if I could improve on the earlier offer of £49.00 installed for Sky+ (and £10.00 multiroom) as I do not really need multiroom. Anyway the guy said what offer? We aren't doing that offer! I said yes you are as I was offered two hours ago. Anyway he accussed me of lying I asked to speak to a supervisor, he cut me off !! I was raging. I rang again and got India! I explained, he was sympathetic but could not help. I asked to go through to cancellations and explained what had happened and they were lovely and have now agreed to install for free and provide the box for £49.00 and no multiroom required. Excellent!

I posted the above on a different forum which is very similar to this one but I hope it helps someone. Seems to be a few people being offerd the Sky + (new and not refurbished) for £49.00 installed without having to take multiroom or pay a subscription.0 -
Hi,
I've got Sky+ being installed for £49 next saturday, i has to take either the port or movies, otherwise it would have cost £99 + Installation. I could not get any other offers.
Sky 0800 number works well, held for under 1 minute
I also have NTL 4mb BB and free calls for £23 p/month just call up and ask.0 -
Hi,
Having Sky+ installed on Weds as an existing customer upgrade. We have had to pay £60 installation but have managed to get the sky box for free (well the cost of £3.50 pack of batteries).
Went into our local high street Curry's Digital (formerly Dixons) shop today. They have an offer of free upgrade to sky if you buy a TV over £160. But today the offer was free upgrade on any purchase.
So we bought a pack of batteries, and they have upgraded our sky to sky+. We have had to pay the £60 installation as we didn't want to have multiroom, but this is still better than any other offer we have found.
Just got to pay an extra £10 per month for the Sky+ subscription.
They tried to sell us a care package for the Sky Box, but didn't push it when we refused.
I'm very pleased with this as we have saved the £99 for the Sky+ box.0 -
start of december is when my subject to 12 months is up. We have the multiroom sky, one sky+ box downstairs and one normal sky digi box upstairs. We have the whole package and I think is £52 odd a month. I would like to get it half price for the next 3 months or something like that, however am just wondering based on experience from you lot, am I likely to get such a deal as I am only just finishing the 12 month, thanks in advance for replies/advice.

hi,
Cancelled the sky+ offer I mentioned earlier. BTW I had to pay the £10 for multiroom and £10 for sky+ since I wasn't taking any premium channels. Decided to go with curry's offer for the half price sky hd with purchase of TV more than £169. Note MrsBez offer. unfortunately not being done at the Curry's near me. However, managed to make a deal with the sales person, so it did not have to be a tv but any purchase above £169. Oh, and did you know you could haggle the prices at Curry's? Always thought they were fixed prices.
hope this info benefits someone.0 -
I've just called sky (onthe 0800 number) and asked about getting sky+. I gave them the "I'm a loyal customer" and "I can get a better deal with telewest" stories. I was put through to cancellations and I told them that I'd consider staying if they gave me the same deal as my "friend". I got sky+ for £49 with free installation, and was assured that it was a brand new box, and it's being installed within a week. They didn't even put up an argument once I got through to the cancellations department, and no I didn't take the multiroom option.
It just goes to show that the deals are out there for the people that are willing to be firm and say what they want, and all deals are negotiable. I think it really helped that I looked through this forum before making the call so I had a fair idea of what their reaction would be. Thanks to all the people that posted on this subject, you've saved me £110. Cheers.0
