another question, if i have multiroom, one box with a card in and another without, will i get my full package on the one without the card in or just freesat?
The answer's no. Unless you have a card in the box all you will get is freesat.
  • As soon as you mention you want to cancel / are passed to cancellations / call cancellations direct - they will NOT give you an offer.

Sky's opinion does seem to be that if you want to cancel it then they will try and build in the benefits of what you have and what you could get (sky+ / multiroom / broadband / sky talk) but all that is is a sale for that adviser. I think they are trying this to see if the amount of cash they loose is any different from when they had offers. Depending on the results, it could be a while before the offers come back. Yes you may have been told it's coming back in January, but in honesty - I doubt any of them actually know.

With regards being a subscriber before. If you cancelled 1year+ ago, they won't have your details on their new system (I had this explained to me before) but will have them on thier old system. They will know you are coming back due to name / bank account details etc - but they waiver it if its 1year+ (september 05) ago as they can't re-enable those accounts so yes - you will get free box / install AND won't be subject to a 12 month minimum term...make sure and get this clarified though!

I just phoned this evening as Sky had offered me a £49 Sky+ and Half price installation...I said I would think about it. I phoned back and they told me it was a one off offer. Asked to be put through to cancellations. Explained nicely the offer and after speaking to the manager I am getting Sky+ for £49 and free installation. Telephone person very nice and helpful.

Ludds123! Stop "laughing out loud" and post a Ludds123 guide called "How to get Sky subscriptions half price for 6 months without threatening disconnection".

Please help us all out because even though Sky have a new policy of no subscription discounts whatsoever you seem to be achieving the impossible.

    Many thanks,

(for those not sure what I am on about please read all of my earlier posts and comments from others... !!)

Sky HD for £149 free install :)
Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.

mclaren, are you an existing customer or a new customer? how did you manage to get that deal?

I am thinking of getting Sky hd but am not sure if I should wait until next year. There doesn't seem to be that many channels on hd and you need to have sky movies in your package to get the sky hd movies.

I was looking on the sky website and have a few questions regarding sky hd. Do you get sky box office hd with your sky hd subscription or is it just like normal sky where you pay extra for the box office movies?
Does anyone else have sky hd? do you think it is worthwhile getting it just now?
    would appreciate your advice. thanks.

I have sky. had it for 5 months but want sky + what deals can I get on it. Its just one box not multiroom and I don't want multiroom
  • Seeing as Humanoid is SOooooo interested in my telephone conversations with Sky here's what I did..

I cancelled four weeks ago, my sky went off on Monday. On Tuesday they phoned me, I discussed with them why I had wanted to cancel, they started offering me subscription discounts to re-connect, I asked for a sky plus deal and got it for £49 installed. However, I couldn't take a subscription deal too! BUT seeing as the engineer has let me down twice now, both times I've waited in all day, so I've had it out with Sky on the phone today and they have now refunded my £49 too! Soooo sky plus for free! Yay (if the engineer ever actually manages to turn up!).

THEN a couple days later, I phoned up pretending to be my mum. Said I wanted to drop the movies package as we just didn't watch them enough, was trying to save money to budget for Christmas and besides the box seemed to be playing up on certain channels (that bit was true!) and again, the offers were easy! She's ended with sports and movies for half of what she was previously paying for just movies, for six months and a free engineer visit to fix/replace the box.

SOoooo it CAN be done - both times I've gone through the 0800 number. I guess it just depends on when you call, who answers, how they're feeling, what their daily targets are etc etc.

Humanoid - if you want me to try phoning for you, PM me your details and I'll give it a go.
  • Hello Ludds123,

Thanks for embelishing your version and thank you for your kind offer :) !

At last we have the Ludds123 "Guide-on-how-to-achieve-subscription-discounts-when-Sky-do-not-offer-them-anymore"

Furthermore, you did not even threaten to disconnect and they gave you not 3 months half price but 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Surprised they did not chuck in a Sky HD box with a Sony Bravia gratis when faced with your negotiaiton techniques !!

Again, as I can not prove otherwise (and for that matter neither can you prove anything) I will have to take your word for it. I believe you, but thousands wouldn't!

However, I am going to realistic and accept what everyone else is saying about Sky not offering subscription discounts and the fact that I know this is the case and decline your kind offer to ring up on my behalf and work your magic.

Still have to ask, are you sure you actually spoke to Sky and it was not a wrong number you dialled?

    Thanks,

    Humanoid.
