Curiously I've noticed over the last week or so, that despite me only sending a few texts a day (and no calls), my available credit has dropped by amounts that are not exact multiples of 4p - has anybody else had this?

  • Have I got this right - it is possible to keep both your old handset and your old number?

I have an orange nokia 1208 phone. So I'd need to get that unlocked, put in asda sim, ring orange to get a PAC code and then give it to ASDA.

Presumably when I first put in the asda sim I will have a new asda number to start off with 9after a registration process)? But then after they sort out the PAC stuff my old number will come back again?

And then I can register my credit card to top up withas long as I've unnominated it from Orange first?

    Yes - that's right.

You may get it unlocked free by code - see the sticky post at the top of the forum for unlocking.

Does the sim work without unlocking in a voda phone?

Asking as son is after a new phone for christmas and I do not know if the one he wants is available from asda on the asda network.

I was considering the fact that roaming calls don't always appear immediately on the billing. Something to do with the partner network, apparently, taking their time to pass information back to the UK network.

The prepay roaming requires realtime billing, either directly from the host network or some kinda of callback from the UK network.

That's why the roaming coverage is often different on pre-pay than contract.

does anyone know if i put an asda sim card into my phone which was locked to vodafone, (as i want to change to asda for cheaper PAYG calls,) would i be able to use same number without doing anything else or would i have to arrange PAC code to be transferred ?
sorry if this sounds a silly question but find this mobile phone network issue a bit confusing with asda and vodafone being the same
    thank you
