When i ported my number last year all i did was phone them and asked for a "PAC" code. They will offer you something to get you to stay with them (Vodafone offered me £5 credit).

When you have the code, contact your new network provider and give them the code. I think it takes around 28 days IIRC.

Make sure you use up all of your calling credit with your old provider first before the changeover or you will loose it.

Porting now takes two working days once you give your PAC to Asda. On the date of the port, you might experience some abnormal behaviour (your asda mobile ringing and then your old phone - or something similar) however by the end of the day your number will be fully ported across to the ASDA network.

Asda mobile customer service have contact vodafone on my behalf, to get my card unlocked for use with them, they have credited my account with a couple of pounds extra credit to say sorry for the problems I have been having with topping up my account, excellent customer care asda.:T

Hi folks,

Just to let you know Vodafone Customer Services and Asda Mobile Customer Services are in the same building.

The call centre is in Scotland on Rothesay Isle of Bute, very nice place if anyone fancies visting!! lol...

Vodafone PAYG are upstairs and Asda Mobile are downstairs.

Good to know there's no foreign call centres!!

I'm thinking of switching my parents over to asda. My mum is currently on virgin, paying 35p per minute for most calls!

My only concern is that the price won't stay this low for long. Anyone else think it might just be a temporary thing to, (in the words of the nationwide ad), "hoik people in"?

She shouldnt be paying 35p....flat rate calls on virgin are 15p for the first 5 mins then the next 5 mins free

Not if she is on the PAYG Tariff which has recently increased from 35p to 40p a minute for x-net mobile calls.

I can't really see why anyone would stick with the old Virgin PAYG tariff rather than their Daily Bonus tariff.

From what I can see, the only advantage that the old PAYG tariff has is lower minimum call charge (until 13/10/08), and slightly lower text charges to other Virgin Mobiles (but slightly more for other networks!) - but the free minutes on the Daily Bonus tariff, together with the more generous cross-network calls (ie not charged at a premium rate) would surely more than compensate for the fact.

There is one other difference I believe. On the old Virgin PAYG you can pay by DD, which I don't think is possible with Daily Bonus.
