i wouldn't feel like that mate, i was worried at first, but my bills are about a tenner cheaper per quarter to what they were with BT . (i had a look back through some old bills earlier)

FREE calls to mobiles from 6pm Friday to 6am Monday awesome if you have a pay as you go mobile (as i do)

the only downfall for me was they don't give the little extras like caller display free like BT do, though, the free mobile calls more than makes up for that :)

well i will wait to see what happens when i get my 1st bill & see how it looks. but i have noticed that the customer service number is an 0845 number ,where as BTs is 150 .so it would appear to me that PO home phone would give with one hand but take with the other.

On likely useage does it matter whether it's 0845 or 0800? If you spend more telephoning customer services than calling mobile phones then there is a far more important problem you have to address! You should either change to a service that works or you should seek advice on how to make friends.

no sorry i think you miss understood me,i would only call customer services when i needed to,just thought it would be nice for them to have a 150 or other free number to call rather than the 0845. but then one can't have there cake & eat it
  • Does anyone know the current charge (if any) for 0844 numbers on Post Office homephone? I want to use phonecheap, bestminutes, discountdial, telesavers etc for cheap international calls as listed in the mse international callchecker. Thanks. (I know about the free eve/weekend international calls, but the destination I want [South Africa] is not one of their top 20). I do get a free 1 hour call at Xmas and birthdays though.

Yes look here and locate the 0844 range, which starts on page 52.

    ftp://ftp.royalmail.com/Downloads/public/ctf/po/NumberRanges_final.pdf

then look here (page 13) to find the cost:

  • Hello all,

We're looking at the Post Office Homephone service. We have both Primus and 18185, and Be* Broadband.

Would switching over to Post Office affect any of those above services?

You can still use 18185 at the moment according to recent posts.

Only BT allow you to CPS your calls so you would not be able to use Primus.
