Don`t know if its a rip off / rubbish service or money saving !
Mother in Law in sheltered accomodation changed to PO telephones in Oct 07, has not had a bill since Jan 08 !
I have rang up on her behalf (again) and they are still having problems !
The good news ? she will only pay for the last 6 months line rental / calls once sorted.0 -
made redundant three weeks ago, trying to save money, if i cancel my homephone line, will there be a connection charge if i decide to connect back in latter months, and if i cancel is there anyway you can have just incoming calls, not bothered about making outcalls, thanks in advance for the advice0
-
If you cancel they will disconnet your line, and should you want a line again in the future, then a new connection charge would be payable.0

do u have any other telecommunication in the house like a mobile phone? If not can ask BT to move to their new service call BT BASIC (
Also as someone on other topic just found out, enquire about "STOPPING" the service instead of "DISCONNECTING" the service, since, the latter way is quiker and cheaperto reconnect in the futue..0 -
Thinking of changing from BT as they are getting rid of friends and family and by bills are large considering i hardly use it.
Looking at the Post Office's offering :
http://www.postoffice.co.uk/portal/po/jump2?catId=68600711&mediaId=19300217
Does anyone have it or know any reason why not to go with them?
thanks0 -
If you don't like it, then you can move on as they don't have a minimum contract.0

i'm with them, and have recommended them to my old folks too as the free calls to mobiles at weekends is a really good deal....
customer service wise they are a bit iffy, but thats going to change soon so i hear
and yeah, no minimum contract....bonus!
one thing have never understood with these deals about free calls to international destinations that places offer, is how come calls to US and Canadian mobiles can be part of a package, but not calls to say Spanish mobiles, when they're all part of the EU....just curious£4988 Lloyds TSB Mastercard
£400 O/D Lloyds TSB
£2650 Lloyds TSB Loan
£5070 Black Horse Finance
Skint, but I have a plan.... an MSE Plan!!!0 -
Post Office Homephone is BT rebranded.;)
If you have not got inclusive minutes. You would probaly better off using www.18185.co.uk then relying on Friends and Family.0 -
i was with them and they are WELL COOL. i had a post office phone and broadband for 3 months all was fine, bills received and paid no probs, reasonably priced too, then my lodger hammered my phonebill and done a runner leaving me with over £400 to pay in one month! all i could do was cancel the direct debit as it was so close to bill time.
however, and this was brilliant moneysaving by them for me. a couple of weeks later i received my next bill expecting to see the missed bill added........
and well, it wasnt, it showed on the bill but it also showed as paid......
so what the hell i thought, yeah bad i know, but i didnt reinstate my direct debit and for the next 6ish months every bill i received was ever so kindly paid by them, with no service disruption what so ever. anyway i was feeling a little guilty by then so i changed supplier and have heard no more.
not saying you should try that but as a result i can only say good things about post office phone.0 -

It costs the same to call a USA and Canadian landline as it does a mobile.
The way the system works in the USA, Canada and 2 or 3 other countries is different to the rest of the world.
In the USA and Canada you don't know whether the number you are calling is a mobile or a landline as they have the same area codes etc and you can port a landline number to a mobile and a mobile number to a landline.
In the USA, Canada etc the person you are calling pays to receive the call at around 15c/min or out of inclusive minutes.
Most the rest of the world it is the caller (you) who pays the difference and not the callee (the person you are calling as in the USA, Canada).
The cost to terminate a call on a mobile is higher, so there's two ways to pay the difference, the USA/Canada model where the callee pays or the most of the rest of the world model where the caller pays. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
