Post Office Homephone is BT rebranded.;)

If you have not got inclusive minutes. You would probaly better off using www.18185.co.uk then relying on Friends and Family.
You can use 1818 from a post office line and still take advantage of post offices FREE calls to mobiles at the weekend...and inlight of BT recently annouced price increases Post Office line rental is £2.00 pm cheaper when paying by DD....I think Post Office homephone is an excellent service

Post office charge the same no matter how you pay.

Current monthly charge is £10.72, and includes all evening/weekend calls as well as the free w/e calls to mobiles and the 20 international destinations.

They do refer a friend (£10 credit to both parties) and calls are free 24/7 to other post office phone users.

Or if you don't know anyone on it to get referred by, there's currently £9.25 cashback at quidco.
  • How much is the package that gives free calls 24/7? I can't find it on the website. TIA!

Thinking of changing from BT as they are getting rid of friends and family and by bills are large considering i hardly use it.

Looking at the Post Office's offering :

    http://www.postoffice.co.uk/portal/po/jump2?catId=68600711&mediaId=19300217

Does anyone have it or know any reason why not to go with them?

    thanks

I took the plunge from BT/AOHELL in December and quite happy with the package so far except that I am only getting 2400kbps download speed which is nowhere near the advertised "up to 8meg". I am only half a mile from the BT exchange and my system/line has been thoroughly checked. The problem points to the BT exchange but numerous complaints to the PO have proved negative. Still fighting though... <g>

Also, their website appears to be under construction and some of the information is missing such as My Email in My Account and very slow updates on Recent Calls, etc.

Apart from the above, overall, I still feel I made the right move for a number of reasons especially free international calls at weekends and free evening/weekend UK calls. Although I am only getting 2400kbps I must mention that the line is steady with no disconnections (not like AOL that was up and down like a yo-yo).

Other welcome facilities are free UK Call Centres and being able to make contact by email. So if you are not happy with the service you can persevere with your moans at no cost. Hope these notes help you and others. Regards.

PO might be BT rebranded but I will never go back to BT! BT is not what they used to be and if you have a problem their Call Centres in India are a nightmare. Pathetic service and deceiptful with their offers. My last experience with their "free evening and weekend calls" will not be forgotten by this household. So beware!

Go for it! PO phone service is brilliant. I made the move and have no regrets. Glad to get rid of BT.

It isn't BT rebranded - anymore than eg. the phone co-op is. They use the same lines/installers/repairmen as BT do, but that's where it ends. They have their own tariffs, admin, service centre etc.
  • The Post Office service is a BT Wholesale White Label package , BT will provide wholesale telephone and broadband services to the Post Office to be sold to its customers under the Post Office HomePhone brand which includes managed billing services and a managed customer service centre.
BT is also supplying online and telephone based customer service and support.

Is anybody experiencing problems with their website? This end, My Email in My Account has vanished, Recent Calls very slow to update and one or two things that don't work. Any comments would be much appreciated.
