The Post Office service is a BT Wholesale White Label package , BT will provide wholesale telephone and broadband services to the Post Office to be sold to its customers under the Post Office HomePhone brand which includes managed billing services and a managed customer service centre.
BT is also supplying online and telephone based customer service and support.
No its not.....
Yes its BT White Label, using the BT Infastructure, exactly the same way that many others do, its still Openreach that maintain the line whether you're BT, Sky, Vodafone, or Post Office. But the customer service side of it is not sitting in a BT office somewhere.£4988 Lloyds TSB Mastercard
£400 O/D Lloyds TSB
£2650 Lloyds TSB Loan
£5070 Black Horse Finance
Skint, but I have a plan.... an MSE Plan!!!0 -

i know slightly different regarding how much involvement Stream has now with the PO account @ BT...
It is outsourced I agree, but the processes are very much in line with the PO's expectations of customer service, not BT processes.
I think the key thing is though that the package on offer through Post Office, is better than the same product direct from BT, and at the end of the day thats more important rather than the name attached to it£4988 Lloyds TSB Mastercard

The FREE calls to mobiles at the weekend (Friday from 6PM thru Monday AM) is a godsend.
Being able to call our son at university halls on his mobile for FREE saves us a bundle.
I get a paper bill every 3 months and I have never had one over £38 - excellent service and vfm.
With BT we would be paying £100's calling a mobile every weekend so BT can keep sending us a letter asking us to go back - absolutely no chance!0 -
At the end of last year Post Office Phones increased their prices by removing the direct debit rebate on the line rental.
I wrote to them to ask if they would reverse this decision, but they didn’t reply.
Does any one know of a telephone provider with a cheaper line rental than PO phones now?

Looks like the Post Office has started to sort its billing issues out, having not received a bill for over 6 months, depsite asking, when I tried to make an outbound call today I was directed to a customer care line...
Seemingly a major system crash between theirs and BT systems lost a lot of personal details, so there was nothing to bill against even though the lines were active. I wonder whether they've got a new department on board trying to sort the problem out as instead of the Irish team, I spoke to someone with a North East accent. They were really pleasant, very helpful, and seemed to know their stuff. OFCOM rules state they cant bill you more than 3 months line rental in arrears, and somehting like 6 months calls made... Was able to start making outbound calls again in a couple of hours.
Probably a good thing theyve sorted as I was worried i was going to have a monster bill on my doorstep£4988 Lloyds TSB Mastercard

I took the plunge from BT/AOHELL in December and quite happy with the package so far except that I am only getting 2400kbps download speed which is nowhere near the advertised "up to 8meg". I am only half a mile from the BT exchange and my system/line has been thoroughly checked. The problem points to the BT exchange but numerous complaints to the PO have proved negative. Still fighting though... <g>
Also, their website appears to be under construction and some of the information is missing such as My Email in My Account and very slow updates on Recent Calls, etc.
Apart from the above, overall, I still feel I made the right move for a number of reasons especially free international calls at weekends and free evening/weekend UK calls. Although I am only getting 2400kbps I must mention that the line is steady with no disconnections (not like AOL that was up and down like a yo-yo).
Other welcome facilities are free UK Call Centres and being able to make contact by email. So if you are not happy with the service you can persevere with your moans at no cost. Hope these notes help you and others. Regards.
Now getting just under 7meg download speed.
Their website https://www.mypostoffice.co.uk is still not up to scratch: My Email in My Account is missing from the Menu and Names for Numbers doesn't work. Anybody with the same problem?0 -
Hi
Post Office telephone service appeals to me as in rented and having separation from husband, so don't want perils of tie-in contracts.
Questions I have are:
Does 18185 work with post office telephone line?
(Post Office does not offer free day time calls currently)
Does anyone know if Post Office plans to offer free daytime calls?
Thanks

Just looked at the Post Office and it looks really good. Can you have broadband from someone else on a post office phone line? I get free broadband with orange and i'd like to keep that but the free mobile calls at the weekend and no contract seem excellent.0

You don't have to go for the PO Home Phone/Broadband package. Just apply for their Home Phone which, as you say, is excellent
