Has any one experience of this. They have a top package at £25.95 per month
BUT can I use 18185 and another override that I have for my work calls? I've looked at the T&C & can't find anything that stops me.
Any experience of the Post Office service would be much appreciated. I am with Eclipse at the moment & get a good service (now) from them but I calculate that I could save over £36 per yr if I swapped.
- free evening and weekend calls*
- high-speed broadband connection of up to 8Mbps**
- line rental included in monthly fee - so no extra charges
- unlimited monthly downloads - perfect if you download music or watch movies online
- wireless router included
- enhanced PC security suite including parental controls

I have always shied away from going with a provider who bundles services for the primary reason that they usually all come with long contracts and are costly to move away from if the service is not up to scratch.
I could save £10.54/month if I switched to the Post Office for broadband/calls/line rental, even more if I switched to Primus.
However, having been with numerous broadband providers, and seeing the varying levels of service and quality of the actual broadband, I am ever more reluctant to move away from my current ISP who provide a very fast, clean, (no shaping, FUP or other management), feed
, have the ability to call them on an 01 number, have a technician answer the phone and take charge of any issues, rather than face the prospect of being locked in for 18 months with an LLU provider, who it may or may not be costly to call for support, who may or may not apply management to my account based on non-published limits and potentially also face the minefield that is foreign call centers with poorly trained staff.
I'm not saying don't do it, but before making these decisions, think carefully because you do get what you pay for and if you're happy with Eclipse, is it really worth £2 a month if it all goes wrong and you're forced to endure poor service or a poor quality line for 12-18 months?0 -
Basically all you are getting is BT Broadband rebranded under the PO Banner. BT now run their Phone and Broadband Service for them.
They can bar access numbers like 18185 if they so desire.
Its not considered a good idea to move your line rental from BT anyway.
Have a look at this post if you want to cut your phone bills.

As far as Post Office Phone Line rental is concerned there are no 12/18 months contracts involved.
You can leave at any time by giving 15 days notice.0 -
Post Office® HomePhone with Broadband Extra offer -
8mb speed, free wireless router, unlimited usage allowance, free evening and weekend calls for up to an hour each call, 24 hour UK technical support at 3p per min, BT line and equipment, 12 month contract and NO set up fee.
Apparently the service has only been available for @ 1 month, but has anyone already got this service?
Any comments about it?

This doesn't seem like a bad deal from the Post Office.
I would be most interested to hear from any one who has experience of them.
They will also connect you up with a phone line for £110.
Post Office® HomePhone with Broadband Standard from £21.95 per month- free evening and weekend calls

I understand why it might not be considered a good idea to move to an LLU landline as you may have to pay BT to go back to them or indeed to change from one LLU supplier to another.
However I see no reason whatsoever why it would not be considered a good idea to move one's landline from BT to Post Office. As you say, Post Office landline IS a BT landline, it is just rebranded. What's more, you get free UK evening & weekend calls, free anytime calls to other PO customers, no minimum contract, and the line rental is only £9.95 a month. In fact I can see no valid reason why you should not switch from a BT landline over to the Post Office.
I have PO Homephone and O2 Broadband both of which are excellent, and cost me £17.45 a month. I can make international calls to many popular destinations for as little as 0.5p a minute (using the 0844 access numbers) so I would have to rack up a huge number of calls each month to justify considering signing up for an all inclusive service like Tiscali or TalkTalk.
I would encourage anyone to ditch BT for the PO, even if broadband doesn't come into it. There is just no comparison between the 2.0 -
I've taken the plunge and signed up for the phone and BB Standard option (to commence on the 18th).
It comes with a free modem. Does anyone know whether this is okay, or should I be thinking about getting one of those router thingies?0 -

BT Landline with vitually free caller display. £10.50 + 2 off peak calls 9p= £10.59p a month.
PO Landline with Caller Display £9.99p + £1.75p= £11.73p a month.
Add Primus Saver 2 to BT http://www.planet-talk.co.uk/SaverProducts.aspx?source=saver for Free Evening and Weekend Calls to 01/02 numbers.
Plus BT have to allow you to access the likes of www.18185.co.uk for cheaper calls
where you dont pay if your not connected, unlike 0844 access numbers where you do pay if you are not connected.0 -

Surely to get the cheap O2 Broadband you have to have a O2 Contract which will cost you at least £15 a month on top of the £17.45p.0 -

Don't know if the po "has" to allow you access to the likes of 18185, 1899, etc, but the fact is you can do so.
So it is cheaper to use than BT if you don't want caller display.0
