when you say indirect, do you mean by calling their freephone number 0808 1 703 703 instead of 18185

    You can do both.

as anyone got post office broadband?

18185 is the indirect access code, but as Quentin points out you can also use their 0808 or 020 access numbers, however they do normally charge different rates for 0808/020 access.

18185 for some reason charge less via 0808 than using 18185 for calls to 0845 numbers, 0870 numbers at the weekend and during weekdays (and for ringing mobiles at weekends - though you don't need that with the post office which is free to call mobiles at weekends).
  • does not look like there is many people on the post office broadband then, as there is not a lot of up to date info regarding how good/bad their service is :)
  • Hi everybody,
I work at the Post Office and can you tell you honestly that it is a really great service. When the broadband first went live in March there were a few technical issues but those were all ironed out over the next couple of months. I have people coming into my branch telling me how pleased they are with the homephone/broadband package, and how surprised they are at it's simplicity. Lots of people save an absolute bomb too, I mean I used to have customers coming in with £100, £200, £300 phone bills per quarter, now they're substantially less. Our customer service is also ace, a lot of our call centres are based in Northern Ireland but the accents aren't thick and they're very easy to communicate with.

    Hi everybody,
I work at the Post Office .....Help keep a dying business alive and support the PO

    Hardly a confidence inspiring cry!

Lots of us have been let down by the likes of euro1net dying on us, and there seems little point signing up to your isp if things are black as you seem to be saying!
  • A friend of mine has had the bb for the past year which I set up for them, fairly easy and the help line is based in Ireland and actually very helpful. She already had the phone element.

At the time she got it you had to pay extra monthly for a wireless router so she went for the basic modem and we bought a wireless router at a later stage. Their modem and wireless router come pre-programmed so we had a bit of bother sorting out the settings for the wireless router but got it sorted fairly easily.

Hi, am having exactly the same problem with my PO basic. Can anyone tell me how to set up a wireless router and which router to buy.
  • We bought a Zoom (ADSL) wireless router from Tesco instore then followed the instructions with the router but you do need to phone the PO and ask for your log-in name as its different from your email log-in.
  • Has anyone any advice on the post office as providers of telephone/broadband services. I'm more concerned with customer care and good quality technical support. I am binning Tiscali, after 4 hard and long years. Cheers
