Well after three months of service I can report good line speeds good reliability but very poor customer service. This is just like talk talk were at their start up , when will these companies learn. For any one that is experiencing difficulties I have found a free phone number to access the customer services but you will probably be waiting in a queue for 10 to 20 minutes before somebody answers
The Number is 0800 0920511
The website/online service side of things has not changed I have just received an email stating that they know of the problems and are working to resolve them.....this is the same as two months ago!! Still no personal web space ...as this is in the sales blurb to get you to sign up would I be entitled to a refund for none supply of services ???
will post again when I have more to tell......~:staradmin~BR January 15th 2008 ~:staradmin~*~:staradmin~*~*~E.D. July 9th 2008~*~~:staradmin~~:staradmin~Time to start rebuilding a more simple life~:staradmin~0 -
Has anybody else gone for this (the Post office broadband service) and have any negative or positive experiences to report on it ?
I see they have sent a leaflet to existing home Phone customers offering 3 months free if the customer upgrades to include broadband with their home phone service. That is a tempting offer (possible saving of £80 plus a "free" wireless router on the more expensive package option).
Comments both here and elsewhere report provisioning delays and customer service who are unable to sort things out in a timely matter or answer basic questions. - But if the service works well after that it might be worth the hassle involved in getting it working.
For anybody who has it, is it true that it's just a re-branded BT (retail I presume) broadband (does the first hop have "bt.com" in it or "postoffice.co.uk" or similar) and do you notice any slow-down or packet loss during peak evening hours ?0 -
Err – according to the Post Office T & Cs:
1. Minimum 12 month contract.
Quentin is correct.Their is no minimum term for the Post Office Phone Line Rental, the 12 months is for the broadband. Although without the line it would not of course work.:D

Hi
I signed up to My Post Office Broadband in December last year, £26 for broadband and phone. Set up went fine and all seemed ok until January and since then it has been a nightmare. Email services stopped. I assumed it was our computer but eventually rang the Post Office who tried to assist with the problems at my end. It will didn't work. On the third call I was advised the problem was at their end and I should set up an email service with a free provider just in case this happened again. It has, again and again. Every other week the emails go off and disappear into the ether. Then we lost the internet as well.
Emails went off last week and I rang the Post Office to complain. I wanted to get out of the contract but I have signed up for a year. They said I can't claim on the email because it is a free service.
Also I have never received a bill. I emailed to chase in January because I don't want to end up with a large lump sum bill, I had opted to pay monthly. I was told I hadn't been registered. I am still waiting for a bill which has been promised.
Any ideas, this is my first post on this brilliant site.

Hopefully you received a copy of their Terms and Conditions when you signed up.
Does this say anything about cancelling the contract if they don't provide a proper service (are they in breach of contract?), or maybe there is a get-out clause which covers them for failure to provide you with email?
If it is an ongoing problem, keep records of when it doesn't work and of conversations you have had with the Post office. You may need them later."The trouble with quotations on the Internet is that you never know whether they are genuine" - Charles Dickens0 -
If you need to call them frequently look at the saynoto0870.com site for the geographical contact numbers for the Post office broadband service (it lists numbers for customer service/technical support and billing). At least save a bit on the support calls.
Let us know how long it takes them to fix it. As they recently sent out a special (3 months "free") offer there are probably others considering signing-up.0 -
In February last year I signed up with AOL, months of misery later, they refunded all charges and took their tag off my line.
In August I signed up with Orange, same old story, nothing worked, when it did it was hit and miss and very very slow.
December in went BT Broadband - never worked - full refund received.
6 weeks ago I ordered the postoffice service with unlimited high speed download, free wireless router and a quite expensive £20.95 a month. The confirmation email stated 10 days to go live. The router arrived in 4 days. I tested the line the following day and it was already live. So I've had a few free days of surfing. The service is perfect, always connects on time and always at maximum speed. The Helpline is open 24/7 and answered in a call centre in Kerry, Eire. I called once with what turned out to be a really stupid question, the staff were polite understanding and very helpfull. They called back 2 hours later to check all was ok.
I pay monthly on a payment card so no arguments about messy direct debits.
It costs me roughly £250 including a free router worth say fifty quid. However, it's blissfull to use. And no extra cost for 24/7 support. I'm quick to complain however, if you are having Broadband nightmares and you don't mind paying for a quality service. I give PO BB 10 out of 10. Just thought I'd like to share this with you.
Orange cost me at least £23 in phone calls, AOL even more. I thhink this package makes sense....0 -
