Hi, I wonder if someone could help me? My girlfriend bought a pair of boots from River Island 6 months ago for £80 however they are now falling apart, the soles are pretty much gone. She went back to the shop today to exchange them or get a refund but the manager refused. I'm sure this isn't right as you expect an £80 pair of boots to last longer than 6 months. What can we do?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!
  • Hi Can anyone help

I was sent an email by dating direct to join for a month for £1 which I did for some reason as I never went on there, I then went on holiday for a month forgetting all about it. I have since realised they have been taking a large amount out of my account for the last couple of months. I did not agree to joining for any time after the special offer and have not recieved an email asking me if I would like to continue and pay this amount. I have not been on the site is there anything I can do? I'm completely shocked!

    Hi,
I need some advice please, I just received the worst treatment by tesco's customer service & subsequently lost a £97.00 in club cards vouchers. I've been a customer for 18 years spending around £600-1000pm in stores & petrol collecting the club card vouchers. The problem started in May 08 when I tried to enrol an expired vouchers, the person I spoke to was rude & didn't enrol all the vouchers so I received far fewer points. I called in Sep08 spoke to a helpful person who confirmed that the other person missed a few, when I got my next statement there were £19.00 less in value, when I looked closely I discovered that I originally had 2 identical codes of three vouchers (7+7 ,7+7 &5+5) which counted as one each instead of 2.

For the last 18 month I've been emailing tesco's online customer service asking them to rectify the mistake, while trying to sort this first I had many other vouchers expired, I mentioned in my emails many times I need this sorted as I am worried if I enrol any more vouchers it will only make matters worse as I lost trust in the club card centre.
Until 2 days ago when I spoke to 2 mangers both were adamant that the identical vouchers must be are a computer error & I should only have one of each(even though I spend the equivalent in stores) They only agreed to send me a coupon £19.00 to spend in store, that means I lost a potential value X19=£76 if I would to redeem them in deals.

I was getting over my loss when he rang me yesterday to give me the biggest blow, he told me that I have also lost the right to enrol the vouchers that expired in this period (stressful 18 month trying to fix their 1st problem) totalling £78.00 if X4 in deals=£312! I've been talking & emailing him for the past few month, he knows the special circumstance & how much stress this caused me for the past 18 month but said sorry he can't do anything for me as the vouchers vanished off their system! I pleaded to him reminding him I am one of their loyal customers & should deserve a better treatment but to no avail. I've been told even Tesco's boss can not write me these vouchers again.

They denied me a total of £97.00 if x 4 in deals=£388.00 spending nearly £10.000 in their store for that. Do you think I have a right to ask for these back because if it wasn't for their delay to fix the 1st problem this would have not happened. How I've been treated is even worse for me, I am still in disbelief how they could treat a loyal customer.

I appreciate any help or who to contact. I've all the emails & all vouchers with me to support my case.
    Thank you,
    Sarra

If the vouchers have expired I can't see you have any right to have them credited. It's up to you to follow the rules.

I would like help as I bought table and chairs in August sold as seen , we asked what was wrong with it and is there anything structural and was told no it's probably just been re-lacquered .This week one of the legs of the table is loose and I can now see when you tighten the screw the bolt is coming out of the socket as if the holes are too big for the bolt so can't tighten it so the leg is just there not truly attached to the table.Do I have any rights with it being sold as seen .
    Thanks Fuzzy3

You have the same rights as for any goods under the SoGA, unless the "defect" was pointed out to you then they have no right to bar your statutory rights.

    From Trading Standards Institute :-

"Under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 it is also a criminal offence to mislead a consumer about his/her legal rights. Examples might include stating ‘no refunds’ or ‘sold as seen’."

    Hi deanos & art,
Thank you for your quick reply. To enrol the expired vouchers in May 08 was not the problem but the original identical code vouchers I had.

The second & main problem occurred when it took 18 month to give me a verdict about the identical vouchers that in the meantime I had more of the next months expired, I told them in my emails that I am worried about the ones about to expire & need someone at the customer help to do them for me because I lost trust in the calling centre. Inspite that they came now to tell me that I lost the right to enrol the rest.

The 3rd problem for me is the way I've been treated, made to go through all of this for this long.

Hi, I ordered 2 games from an online board game shop (wargeek.co.uk) on 20th September.

The first game arrived very quickly (23rd Sept) and the invoice says that the second item was "to follow." However it has never arrived.

I have tried emailing the company, and tried the phone number on their web site and received no answer to either of them. I paid with a debit card, but the item was less than £100 anyway so would not have been covered.

Is there any way to get a refund, as I can't actually contact the store to ask for one? Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Mat
