  • I have been advised that the garage is responsible for repairing my car after it developed a major fault five weeks after I brought it and paid cash.

However I just want some advice about the process because I need my car for work and without it I can't work and as I'm on day-to-day supply work that means each day they have it I lose £120 gross.

They have had it since 10am on Thursday the 22nd and I have heard nothing - when should I ring back or when is that latest they should contact me.

I'm very worried because the template letters all talk about waiting 7 - 14 days for replies etc.

I just need to know how long this process should take and what my rights are in speeding it up.

    Many thanks.

What did they tell you when you took the car in?

  • Hi there
Back in April I bought 2 piece leather suite on the internet on one year's interest free credit. I completed the application went through ok but on the same day I checked the internet site and the company were offering 10% discount if the suite was ordered before a certain date (which I had done) so I emailed the company and asked if I could claim this discount. It was agreed but as the finance app had gone through, the company would wait until they had been paid by the finance company and refund me the 10% (£71.51). Back in June this year I received the finance contract so emailed the company to ask if I could have the refund. Since then I have email 5 times and phoned (5 times) to speak to the manager who is always on the phone and I am assured he will get back to me but never does.
I will be emailing him again but would like to inform him that I will be contacting a consumer group but I don't know which one would be the best in this situation.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
    Thanks xx

You could speak to trading standards office who will give you a reference for your enquiry, apart from getting good advice from them, you can then write to the company who sold to you advising that you have taken advice from Trading Standards, quoting your case reference, and requesting a response within a timeframe, i.e. 7 working days, before you take matters further (small claims maybe). Trading Standards have helped me in the past with similar things and just the mention of their name in a letter with a deadline usually does it. good luck. p.s. hope you have evidence of the response to your original email requesting the discount.

  • Hello All,

My name is Shailesh and this is my first post, I'm a regular reader of the news letter, and site and normally everything I need to know is covered, but I cant find the answer to my question, so any help would be much appreciated.

I ordered a memory stick from Amazon market place, for £50, and they charged £50 to my card, but only received a receipt for £5, and I was missing an adapter for the card which was advertised. I know this is a little cheeky, but would it be reasonable to ask for an adjustment as I have not received the goods that were advertised, and I was billed incorrectly?

I'm not sure what my rights here are and don't want to make a thing out of it unless I'm right to.

any advice would be much appreciated

    Regards

    Shailesh

I'm sure if you speak to Amazon they will resolve the matter for you satisfactorily.

Thanks, but do you know what I can reasonably expect from them?

You ordered a memory stick with accessories for £50 and I'm sure they will honour this. What else would you expect?

I was just wondering about the incorrect amount on the receipt as well, I just sent an email to Amazon and see what happens.

    Thanks for your reply.
