if the warranty is finished, then unless the problem is the same as the previous problems (it's not clear), then he'd be better off taking it elsewhere. It might even be cheaper to buy a new one (depending on it's age, ability, cost, value etc)
pc world have never really appealed to me because of a desire to sell, and a lack of interest once sold.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
how do i post a new thread i cannot see the icon, anyway here it is
my friend purchased a laptop from pc world, he had to return it 4 times while it was still under warrantee and when it broke for the 5th time they said sorry we cannot help you the warrantee is up, so after complaining more pc world told him to get an independant report done at his exspense done and send it to them, ie dont pc world have their own engineers who can fix their products and also could someone please advise as to how i can deal with this matter, thanks
How old is the laptop and what problems have you had with it? When did they appear in relation to the purchase date?

hi to all
first of all im sorry if ive posted this in wrong section, feel free to move.
Yesterday i bought a reebok i run treadmill from a trader on ebay.Argos price £499,i paid £175.Its brand new boxed and funnily enough its from argos as it has the cat no on packaging.
I unpacked it and in manual it says to register for warranty visit reebokfitness.co.uk and get 4 years warranty free, but i couldnt see where. So i called reebok and they said as i bought it from ebay and not argos i wasnt entitled to warranty with reebok but from the seller where i purchased it from, had i bought it from argos i could have registered it with reebok.
Ive got back in touch with the seller from ebay and he says its warrantied with him for 40 days,no more.He said i shouldnt worry about warranty as its brand new and being reebok they are very reliable.
I dont have a receipt from argos or the seller and to get warranty with reebok i had to have purchase it from argos and show them the receipt.
I just want to know from all of you where i stand in all this, is reebok right in what they say.Personally i wouldnt blame the seller because in the ebay listing it clearly stated warranty is for 40 days with him.But i thought i had at least the manufacturers 1 year warranty, after this 40 day period.
What should i do?
Many thanks for all replies in advance.0 -
This may seem a daft thing to grumble about but Im a tad irritated about it and would be interested to hear what others think...
I purchased the Cadbury The Original Chocolate Machine Money Box today from Argos. Only cost £4.99.
I remember them from when I was a kid. You stick your money in and get a chocolate only you have to spend 10p ? was it 2p before?
Its for a friend's 30th birthday. Something a bit different.
Anyway after waiting in excess of 10 minutes for the item to come up from the stockroom, I gladly walked away with my purchase only to leave the store as it closed to discover that the best before date for the chocolate is 08 2008 which is like in 2 days. Now im not sure if I should treat the best before date as end august or in 2 days time. Now Im sure the chocolate is perfectly fine and edible. but Im a bit mifffed to think that my gift has been sat on some shelf in argos for months on end.
Its an item excluded from their 30 day money back guarantee - statutory rights not affected and all that (never have understood what this means!).
I just feel a bit embarrased given the best before date as its a gift. I dont want to take it back and will be stuck if I do but wondered if a letter to argos might be in order..... I know its a daft thing to grumble about so I apologise !0 -

You're right, it is a daft thing to grumble about. Just to put your mind at rest the best by date refers to the end of the month.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, but can't see where else it could go!
I bought a phone case from Carphone Warehouse exactly 2 weeks ago. It has started to break, some of the outer lining is coming off. I would like to exchange it, but I don't have my receipt (can't find it anywhere!)
As it's only an exchange and the product is faulty I assumed this would be fine, but was told in store I have to have my receipt as they need the transaction number.
Is this correct, or am I legally allowed an exchange? I tried to look into it on Trading Standards website and also here on MSE, but tbh the information was a bit confusing, and seemed to apply if the product was fault when it was purchased (obviously mine only became damaged when I started to use it). Also it didn't mention anything about having a receipt, so I don't know where I stand!
Thanks for any help!0 -
You dont technically need a receipt , proof of purchace is good enough, bank statement, credit statement for example, if you know the time and date they may be able to look it up on there system0
-
Legally you have to be able to prove you got it from them.
A receipt is the normal way of doing that, but if you ask them nicely they should be able to find you a copy receipt.0 -
After all that, I went and left the phone case on the train!! Bought a new one yesterday... oh well!
Thanks anyway for your help0 -
Hi all!
I bought ghds on the 23/09/'06 and the wiring is coming out now, and so need them to be repaired/ replaced as jemella see fit. I know jemella have a 2 year warranty, so I am in there under warranty.
I have my credit card statement stating that i bought them from a 'wp- stylingshop.com'- have tried to go on the site to chase this up but won't let me- anyone out there know who i may have purchased the ghds from? I honestly can't remember who I purchased from.
Main problem is that when i try and register the straighteners, it won't let meand therefore, i think they are fake.
Any help would be very much appreciated
