Go back to Currys and ask them to repair or replace the unit. Tell them you expect it to last longer than 16 months and under the Sale of Goods Act they have responsibility for up to 6 years. The unit is not fit for purpose.

went in currys this morning, they tried the usual fobbing off. When quoted sales of goods act manager was called he said this can only be dealt with by head office.
spoke to head office, again through same scenario, they came back and said working on depreciation they would offer me 50% back in vouchers if i went back into my local store and they verified the fault, she claimed they are not obliged to give full replacement,is this their opening gambit?0 -

They are obliged to put you back in the same position that you were in prior to the fault. Tell them you will go to the Small Claims Court if they don't repair it for you.

Hi all,
I bought a mobile phone from CEX (second hand). And found several faults with it after 2 days. I took it back today, expecting a refund - back on to my credit card, but they said they are only allowed to give a credit note, as all items come with a 12 month warranty - not a guarantee.
Does anyone know if this is correct? I feel really cheated that I now HAVE to spend the money in that shop and I haven't got what I wanted originally.
Thanks0 -

They can't put you off with a credit note. They have to give you a refund if the phone is faulty.

Hi All,
I have a LG 42"LCD TV which is 15 months old, all was fine until 2 weeks ago when on a daily basis it looses the picture whilst maintaining sound.
Its past its 12 month 'guarentee', any ideas???? surely 15 months is too short a time to expect a TV (expensive & bought from Currys).
Any ideas on cause and way to progress forwards.
Thanks0 -

You are covered under the Sale of Goods Act. Tell Currys you expect the TV to be repaired by them free of charge.
An expensive item like this TV should not fail after 15 months. You have rights up to 6 years from purchase.
