Paypal Top Up card

I was nearly at the end of filling out an application form for this topup card, searched for "promotion code" to see what that was about, saw all the problems in this thread, and immediately deleted the webpage with all my details, without completing it and sending it.
This was the last straw in today's waste of time looking into the PayPal topup.
I wasted 25 minutes given the runaround on phone trying to point out that the official Terms
https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/Marketing/general/PPTUCTermsConditions-outside
at present state:
The card can be used at most establishments that accept Visa cards. Certain restrictions apply on the use of the card (for instance, you are not permitted to use the card at card rental agencies or hotels, or to pay for fuel obtained from automated fuel dispensers, or to pay for some gambling transactions).
I tried to get hold of someone who could alert the Webmaster in charge that IF they are in fact saying that CAR RENTAL AGENCIES are banned, then this is not enforceable as the Judge would say CARD RENTAL AGENCIES are clearly a different thing entirely.
No luck getting to anyone with the ability to record that somethjing needs fixing ont heir site. So I sent in an online form but I expect nobody will see it or have the "nouse" to act on it, trivial as it may seem to many.
The question is, would you trust your money with an organisation that cannot vet its sites properly and pick up mistakes like this?
Given the info in this forum, added to the difficulty of getting a human that has the authority to correct mistakes, or even acknowledge that there is an error, I for one will not be bothering to get this card from them.
What annoys me most is why should it be so hard to get hold of a human and talk about problems in the first place, why should I waste my time trying to do them a favour and correct their mistakes for them?
I won't bother next time.0 -
Obviously its just a typing error. They aren't saying don't use it in these places just that it won't be accepted. It is viewed as a debit card and has limits, a car rental agency requires a credit card in case damages occur and extra charges have to be levied, they aren't enforcing anything with the statement, just advising.mateypeeps wrote: »I wasted 25 minutes given the runaround on phone trying to point out that the official Terms

I've used the card quite a bit for small business transactions topped up from Paypal, not had a problem and its been very useful, this site tends to only show the problems.
I'd be more bothered if they were employing people to answer calls from people telling them they've made a spelling mistake;).0 -
Hi, Can anyone tell me how to top up my paypal top up card via Paypal? I have looked all over the paypal site and I can't find it anywhere

Thank you0 -
I tried to use mine at marksandspencer online but card got refused does anyone know why I have put funds on and is showing on balance
I have just been informed that the card (and I quote the paypal telephone rep from memory) 'cannot be used for payment of any 'subscription' service whether or not the payment is a one off and not to be repeated' - in plain english this means you cannot use it to pay your utility gas/electricity/phone/mobile bills. I know - vodafone cant take payment from it much as theyd like to...
In fact all the major high value payment you might regularly want to make are blocked....
Which begs the question - do they want us to use this card or not?
My Caxton FX euro prepay mastercard allows payment at car rental (ive done it) hotels (ditto) and all the above utilities - AND it loads instantly from your bank account (within seconds!) - I hope they see the opportunity and issue a sterling one soon!
I have lodged this issue with Elliot in the RBS chief execs office (they must love this website for suggesting that route for complaints lol!) and await his response....especially to the accusation that it cant be used for any subscription service despite no mention of this restriction on the advertising.
next call - trading standards...0 -
Hi, Can anyone tell me how to top up my paypal top up card via Paypal? I have looked all over the paypal site and I can't find it anywhere

Thank you
That is the reason I came in here. I just can't find a way to top up the card from my paypal account, even though paypal say it can be done.
There is a link for "more topup options" but that link only shows bank accounts or credit cards.
I am a bit peed off as the only reason I took out the card was because they said I could top it up from my paypal account.
It looks like the only way to do it is to transfer money from your paypal account to your bank, then transfer it to your topup card. If I have to do that then I may as well transfer to my bank then use my bank card to pay for things.0 -
You need to log into your top up card account, not Paypal. You can top up from Paypal quite easily that way round, it isn't possible the way you were doing it.geordie_joe wrote: »That is the reason I came in here. The top up card is run by Royal Bank Of Scotland and not Paypal..0 -

I was logged into my top up card accountYou can top up from Paypal quite easily that way round,
I can't, the only option it gives me is to top up the card from my bank account.it isn't possible the way you were doing it.
I was in my top up card account trying to bring funds into it from my paypal account. Are you saying I should be in my paypal account and try to SEND funds to the card? The top up card is run by Royal Bank Of Scotland and not Paypal.
I know that, but in the car account it won't let me top up from my paypal account, even though the account has 8 times more money in it than I was trying to top up.
There is no option in my paypal account to send money to the card, so I guess paypal don't want you spend money from your paypal account with the card.0 -
Ok, when you go to the top up bit, it should redirect you to log into your paypal account. Is that happening?
I have an issue whereby even though I have funds in my paypal account, when it is asking me to confirm top-up, it says it will come from bank transfer and not the Paypal balance. It never does though, it always comes from the paypal balance.0 -

When I click the "continue" button I get redirected to my paypal account, to authorise the transfer, but in the paypal account I can't change it from take from bank to take from paypal balance.
In my top up card account, just before I click the continue button, there is also a link for "more top up options". When I click that link I go to my paypal account, but after entering my name/password I go to a page that only gives me the option of topping up from my bank. The same page I get to when hitting the continue button.
I have used this once and it took money from my bank account, not from my paypal account.dollydoodah wrote: »I have an issue whereby even though I have funds in my paypal account, when it is asking me to confirm top-up, it says it will come from bank transfer and not the Paypal balance. This does not happen when I used it, it takes from my bank account.
I only got the card because I thought it would be quicker to transfer money from my paypal account to the paypal card than it would be to transfer it from my paypal account to my bank. If I can't do that then there is no point in having the card!0 -
I can only answer that I have topped up from Paypal from the Paypal top up card on several occasions and not had a problem.
