Anybody know the cooling off period with SP?. I'm still not convinced I've done the right thing. Currently with BG and will pay 25% more for electricity by switching. Will save 19% on Gas but I'm sure I could save on Gas elsewhere once the current round of increases has taken place.

I believe it's 7 days - we had a man at the door last night from SP who convinced us to switch - gave us his mobile number incase of any queries and from what he was saying is gonna save us alot of money - fexed rate until next year - I was also wondering if I'd done the right thing but he told us that SP was featured on here and have been given one of the best ratings for prices for gas and electric
  • I just requested a switch 5 mins ago through their website without any problems. However, I was already an existing customer on their standard tariff. Fingers crossed the request will be accepted...

I've just tried again, and got through the process a lot quicker than it was taking last night, but I still (as i did last night) get the following message at the confirmation screen...

"Sorry, we are unable to change your service package right now as we are processing a change to your payment details.
You may have requested this on our website or by telephone. Alternatively, we may be reassessing your monthly payment amount if you pay by Direct Debit. If so, you will receive notification of this by letter.
This may take up to two weeks, after which time you will be able to change your service package".

Now, I did receive a statement from SP last week stating that my monthly direct debits would be changing, and my projected usage/costs for the next 12 months - but, having received the letter, should I not now be able to change my service package, as they state above?

I have tried phoning 0800 400 200, but I just get an engaged tone.

Looks like another busy one for them!
  • Just went back now to try and switch my parents from BG to SP capped... no luck. It's not showing on the website now. However, if they just switched to SP Discounted Energy they would still save about 500! But that's savings before SP puts up their prices as well...

You are a superstar!!! Been trying the 0800 number for ages, engaged. Had called the yesterday when their systems went into melt down and they never called me back. I'm not an existing customer, so dialled the number you provided and got through right away, fingers crossed I will get accepted for the fixed price!! Many Thanks!

Just wanted to say I called the 0141 5683000 number and asked for General enquiries or Billing. Got through in two minutes! Got the Fixed price deal too!

So for all that don't have the fixed proce yet, get in with Scottish Power as EON are far more expensive!
