Interestingly, just called Scottish Power now who said the deal was withdrawn at 5pm - why do they keep giving different answers  Earlier on I was told that the deal was available until the end of today at the very least and perhaps more, earlier on someone was told it was withdrawn at 7.20pm so who knows what's going on :(

EDIT: Nicholas I had tried all that earlier on - I clear browsing history and cookies on a special copy of Mozilla I keep just for QuidCo to ensure cookies have a better chance of tracking - didn't help.

I've signed up (in the last hour) for the capped rate. I had the confirmation page about it taking 4-6 weeks.

When will I get "proper" confirmation about the tariff I have chosen? Do they send out e-mails or will I get a letter through the post in the next few days?

Well, I rang them at 5:55pm, just to get a few queries answered about the capped tariff before I tried online, and he said if I had any problems (because the website was crashing somewhat), he said to ring back and do it over the phone

In my past experience of Scottish Power, expect a letter in the next 7 days or so confirming the tariff you've chosen.

The accounts website is running at a crawl.

The initial SP website (www.scottishpower.co.uk) is fine, but as soon as you click 'My Account' you get a pop up window into the accounts site (spenergy.co.uk) which is where you log into your account settings - that is obviously taking the brunt of the traffic.

Like I said before, it let me choose the fixed rate option, and I got right htorugh the submittel process, then at the end it said that they were processing a payment change to my account, and couldn't process my accoutn change - the same as someone else got when they tried to change their account.

Just looked at another supplier (E-On) and their website is the same - obviously taking a lot of traffic this evening.

I took the capped rate with SP last week, and received confirmation within a few days. They say it will take 4-6 weeks to change over.

I am currently with BG for both gas and electric, and when I put my calculated usage into Uswitch, SP came in at the same price, even at the capped rate :T

After I had finsihed kicking myself as had made the decision to switch to NPower on Monday and obviously missed out I then set about securing the SP deal.

Have just held for 30mins and then when they answered was told someone would ring me back within the hour as their systems are down at the moment.

However there is more than one way to skin a cat so at the same time kept trying online and have gone through every screen and am now the proud subscriber (well almost-will wait 'til I get the confirmation letter in the post) of the SP Fixed Price Energy 2009 tarriff.

So as of 2mins ago it was still available both online and on the phone as I told the guy that's what I wanted and he didn't say it wasn't available anymore.

Anything else relevant I will post again.

Good luck to everyone who wants to cap!

It took about 2 weeks before I recieved written confirmation. I was starting to wonder whether I'd actually clicked on "confirm".
    Happy chappy
  • I currently have an online account with Scottish Power, but i notice that in the change options, that the Price Cap is still offered, can you still check payments, usage etc online with the Price Cap package?
