Called 0141 5683000 about quarter past one was put through to billing who I then told I was a new customer, they took my details told me I might be on hold for about 8 minutes is that ok? Call was picked up in less than two minutes and managed to get the Fixed Price NSC August 2009 with no problems :T Did ask about cashback via Quidco and had the online reference number but the woman said they had been told today not authorise any of the cashback reference numbers so missed out on £72 by not making a decision sooner but she did a comparison over the phone and said my new deal was cheaper than I am paying now anyway and set up the dd for £80 - am paying £110 per month now :T Am glad in the end i've at least done something after dithering for the last few days!0

This decision to withdraw the fixed rate must have been taken very suddenly. Scottish Power have a large advert (nearly half page) in today's Scottish Daily Mail for their Fixed until September 2009 rate.
The number given in the advert is 0800 027 5050 says lines are open 9am to 9pm if anyone is interested.
(Scottish Gas have two adverts total 1 1/2 pages for their Fixed till 2011 rate)0 -

I switched on 22nd July, and went though Quidco - my £62 still hasn't been validated by Scottish PowerYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Just finished my shift for SP and if you call 0800 400 200 and choose the option for sales they are definitely still offering the fixed rate, it's not available through any brokers so calling other no's although they answer as SP they might not be direct agents so use the number above, when I left there were approx 80 in queue so probably 30 mins wait to get through. This was pulled from website today so probably from telephone sign up's tomorrow, I'll try and post tomorrow morning if this is the case.0

following markblokes post just worked for me, went through their site and got to the tarrifs then pasted in http://www.theenergypeople.com/applyToTariff.do?tariffId=153849 and it took me to the signup for fixed price energy 2009 online no standing charge. Just finished the process and submitted which it said had been successful so fingers crossed! Now Sacked British Gas Employee (Broken arm gets you the sack at BG)0

I shou;ld have thought of this yesterday, but by 9pm decided it safest to just go direct -- and my application did complete.
I guess I should have done this last week, and rather than lament the "loss" of quidco should rejoice in securing the tariff. Positive thinking & learn for next time! Past is past..What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
Isnt the energy people site a comparison one? I thought Martin said SP had withdrawn from all comparison sites yesterday?0

I dont think so, thats the site used when you try to switch to any package offered by SP direct from their site...Now Sacked British Gas Employee (Broken arm gets you the sack at BG)0 -
I know that those of us that jumped on the bandwagon yesterday are not officially customers yet, but thought I would try to get their "My Account" page up. I know that their website is taking a lot of hits at the moment, but unless there is a marked improvement in the speed of their "My Account" section then all of us that went for the Online only capped rate will certainly have fun trying to submit meter readings and view bills:rotfl:0

Excellent! I will point out that the method is based on Rawy's post on the first page, I simply added the step of calling up the non-fixed tariffs first as I couldn't get it to work before. I think it needs to find a valid tariff to accept the next step.Reading this signature is a waste of time0
