For those of you who are concerned about the email that you are meant to receive.
I signed up on Tuesday as per my post on page 1 of this thread (I think it was Tuesday but all the days are blurring this week!)
I did receive an email within ten minutes as promised but it was blank and only had the usual T&C footer that most business emails have these days.
I tried to email SP customer services yesterday but their website was in meltdown. Tried again today and it was working again and I have been promised a reply within two working days.
I think that their confirmation emails are just a bit slow being sent out because of the exceptional workload. I know that when I was on the phone I was told to hang on for the application number but then told I would have to wait for the email and posted confirmation as their computers were on a go slow.
Hoping to have either a reply to the email and/or a letter in next couple of days. With regards ti cashback it was tracking an amount from SP almost immediately but it's not the £72 it should be. I have the name of the manager who promised me that the cashback would be paid in full so will chase that up if it fails to appear.
Good luck to anyone still trying.July 2018 - Now Mortgage Free0 -
just to let you know that SP are still offering the capped 2009 product when I left earlier and no plans to withdraw it today, lines are still very busy over 70 in the queue most of today waiting times approx 30 mins, dial 0800 400 200 and pick the option for sales.:j0

I've just requested to convert online (because phoning them got through to 'too busy, try again later') from online duel fuel to to online fixed rate. I was taken to web page which said this would take up to 3 days to process. Their 2009 fixed rate terms and conditions are still available as PDF online and I have received an email saying they have received my application.
Does anyone know if this means they have to warrant my request ?
Many thanks for any feedback.0 -
This morning, I finally managed to get back through to the 'contact us' option, so I emailed Scottish Power and told them about being an existing customer, and the problems I'd had trying to change my tarriff to the Fixed Energy Online package.
Just received an email back from them....Thank you for your email.
I am sorry to hear you have experienced difficulty with our online service. May I take this opportunity to thank you for bringing this to our attention as we hope to resolve this matter for you as quickly as possible.
I can confirm that as of today you are on Fixed Price Energy 2009.
Your prices are now capped until 1st September 2009.
The new direct debit payment will be £xxx.xx as of 1st September 2008.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused.
So, if any existing customers are still struggling to get through on the phone or via the online system, then send them an email explaining, and it seems they will still switch you over.
Also, the price they have set for me is actually £10/month lower than the price they had quoted me on my latest assessment which I received last week.

Hi,
I switched from EDF to the SP fix on Saturday 26th and have received a welcome pack in the post today. I had expected some kind of email response to my switch application but I didn't get anything. But today I have a letter confiming the switch and how it will happen, what I have to do and a booklet with all the tariffs etc.
Cheers0 -
hi folks , first post.
I work for SP doing the door to door sales . As of right now, I still have not been informed to stop selling the fixed price 2009 offer, although I reckon it is only a matter of time before I am told.
The amount of doors I have chapped over the past week and people have told me they are on a standard tariff with scottish gas are quite high.
I have told them of our product, but nearly all of them have refused to come on board even when the likes of this forum advises .
I have always said to the potential customers to go for a fixed rate if they can still get it, even if it isnt with ourselves.
many people have told me they are going to wait and see what happens. As far as I know the prices are going up unless people know differently!0 -
Isnt it brilliant getting this insider knowledge from a few of SPs staff0

i was thinking a bit on the lines of it was commercial hype but after martin recommends capping i decided that was good enough for me but hearing it from sp salesperson is reassuring, i just want to know im making the right move as im not one for capping anything :rolleyes:0

It's all very well saying that but don't forget you're fixed price tarrifs are already at inflated prices , it's not as straightforward as you make it seem. I'd be £180 worse off over the next year (based on current prices) compared to my current supplier and that's not taking into the account I get 1 month back in December (£90) so for me I don't see the need to swap suppliers right now. I think there's a huge kneejerk reaction going on here , I've weighed things up and am prepared to take the chance to stay put.0 -

Fair play for that comment.
I compared the scottish gas Standard gas and electric rates against the fixed price 2009
I worked out that paying Scot-gas on their standard rates for a medium user (20500kw for gas 3300kw for elec) against SP fixed price you could save £17 on electric and £262 on gas over the year, but this is of course based on that perfect usage figure.
I accept that people may or may not suit capping their prices, it is an individuals choice and I repect that.0
