The tesco pay as you go iphones are locked to Tesco Mobile NOT O2 as some people have suggested (elsewhere). Just thought I'd let you know in case you were wondering! The bloke on the phone at Tesco Mobile said you would have to unlock it to use an 02 sim and although they use the 02 coverage they aren't the same company.

Maybe I was the only one who was confused lol!

02 couldn't offer me a damn thing, rang up for a refurb, but I still would have had to have a £35 contract for 2 years and pay loads for the phone! I even tried to ask if they'd offer me broadband too in some sort of iphone/broadband deal but got a big fat no no!

I rung up o2 yesterday and i was offered

    Iphone 3gs 16gb refurb
    18 month contract £35pm
    Free phone
    600 mins
    500 texts
    Unlimited web
    Insurance for 7.50 a month

    Which i took. :)
  • was about to order this via mobiles.co.uk but the orange 150 has swayed me. only concern is the fair use policy however data intensive tasks are most likely to be carried out on my home wireless so not sure how much of an issue this will be.
  • Blackra1n should unlock it, I used it on my O2 locked phone and it JB and unlocked it in about 2 minutes.
  • it says on topcashback that the £150 deal isn't available on iphones?

Rang 02 for a brand new contract.

    Couldn't offer me a thing!

18month £35 contract I would have to pay £87 for the phone which was a 16GB 3GS refurb.

or an 18 month £45 contract and free phone.

Said she couldn't possibly do the deals I quoted from here (although didn't say "i saw it on MSE" I said it "was a friend").

I politely told her to go forth and multiply.

Think a PAYG handset and Simplicity sim is the way forward for me

Re this not applying to the iPhone, i thought this to but when i read the post again the guy actually got a Motorola phone on the cashback deal...was going to sell that to help fund buying an iphone.

    Cheers

I don't understand how o2 can be like this.
I rang o2 again today, around 12pm and said that i knew somebody ( by knew i saw it on MSE) who was offered a 32gb refurb on 18 month for free and i was disappointed that i was only offered the 16gb.
The lady checked the system for me and said they do have 32gb 3gs and i asked if they had it in white! She said yes and said i would have to pay £24 for the phone.

I took it :) Really pleased with 32gb and white iphone. Sending mine back today should get my new iphone hopefully before christmas!

Maybe they are only doing it for upgrades not new contracts?
When i rung up wednesday for my upgrade i was told they do not do white refurbs, yet today they do.

    What tariff was that on?

I've just spoken to o2 about upgrading to a refurb iphone 3gs 16gb and was offered free phone at £45 per month (600 minutes/500 texts/unlimited internet) or to pay £99 for the phone and £35 per month.

I wonder if it is to do with how much you spend with them? At the moment I'm on the £20 simplicity deal and use according to them 200 minutes and about 800 texts.

I spoke to upgrades and not retentions.
