If you have "personal possessions" or "away from home" cover on your house insurance he just needs a crime/incident number from the police and he can claim for a new phone on your policy. There'll be an excess to pay but it'll be a lot cheaper than buying a new iphone. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

Hi, I've come to the end of my Orange contract and would like to go for the iphone 4 32GB on an 18mth contract.
I called the upgrade team yesterday and they offered me the phone at the regular price of 319 pounds on a 35 pounds/mth contract with 10% off the monthly bill. I've been with Orange for 10yrs, and am not really impressed with their offer (considering I used to get 2000 free loyalty minutes and was entitled to 10% off the monthly bills anyway as an NHS employee). They even refused to throw in any photomessaging or other bait!
When I went to the shop, they said Orange no longer does unlimited internet access (on their website they still advertise unlimited internet but with 750 MB fair usage policy).
Should I cut my losses with Orange and go with a different provider? Another point to consider is I may not be in the country after 1yr so I definitely don't want a 24mth contract.
Thanks for your help!
L
If you're not going to be in the UK beyond this point next year and providing you get good coverage with O2, I'd be looking at a 12-month contract with Tesco if I were you. I don't think the prices will be that much different to what Orange have quoted you, to be honest. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

iPhone is selling so well they don't need to throw in any "bait". The prices and plans are pretty similar across all networks so it's not like moving will geive you a great deal unless you move to Three.
Loyalty counts for little these days unless your a high spender, and £35 a month isn't really..0 -
Due to upgarde with orange been offered
24 mth contract
335 month
400 min
unlim texts
750mgb
3gb wifi
50 photo mess
orange sat nav
paying £119 for 16gb phone
219 for 32
To me this does not seem great. I have been with orange for well over 10 yrs and understand everyone wants the i phones so they dont need to do much but what do you guys think?? is there a better deal I should hold out for or go through to retentions and quote??
ideally would like not to pay for it and a 18mth contract

Not paying upfront for the phone on an 18 month contract I doubt you'll get anything less than £40-45 a month. A 16gb iPhone 4 at a cost of £499 works out at £27.75 a month alone over that period. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

Add to that the fact I can upgraded as soon as something new comes along, I'm pretty pleased.
Might be worth a look if you can stump up the cash up front.
Feeling even better about it now I've signed up for £10 a month 12 month contract with T Mobile (600 mins, 500 texts, 3gb data and unlimited landlines). Worrying about coverage now but we'll see when it turns up.

I'm in a very similar situation. I also have a 3G (16GB), which is running rather infuriatingly slowly, although iOS 4.1 was a HUGE improvement on speed from iOS4. I've just bought one outright from the Apple store online (using cashbank link from Quidco) and am impatiently awaiting its delivery.
I'm currently on the old SIMplicity £20pcm rolling 1 month contract, which I want to keep as (as far as I know) I still get the text benefits (MMS=4 x SMS, Text send from abroad = 4 x home SMS etc, or whatever it is), so I called O2 to ask what I do. They told me all I need to do is call into an O2 store and ask for a microsim, they'll punch the relevant details into a computer, and Robert's your mother's brother. However, they also said on the phone that I couldn't buy an iPhone outright through O2 (what's a PAYG handset then?).
What I'll probably end up doing is very carefully cutting my current SIM (there are a plethora of guides online on how to do this), just in case O2 make some sort of error and put me on to the new SIMplicity terms.0
