I'm looking to get an IPhone 4 (my contract is up for renewal in November) but I'm getting seriously irritated with how slow my 3G is running at the moment so I'm not sure I want to wait.

Would it be possible for me to buy an IPhone 4 sim free from Apple, walk into an O2 store and get a micro sim, use the Iphone 4 on my current 3g contract until November and then switch to a 12 month simplicity?

Not sure if there would be any problems using my current contract with an IPhone 4.

    Any thoughts much appreciated!

I'm in a very similar situation. I also have a 3G (16GB), which is running rather infuriatingly slowly, although iOS 4.1 was a HUGE improvement on speed from iOS4. I've just bought one outright from the Apple store online (using cashbank link from Quidco) and am impatiently awaiting its delivery.

I'm currently on the old SIMplicity £20pcm rolling 1 month contract, which I want to keep as (as far as I know) I still get the text benefits (MMS=4 x SMS, Text send from abroad = 4 x home SMS etc, or whatever it is), so I called O2 to ask what I do. They told me all I need to do is call into an O2 store and ask for a microsim, they'll punch the relevant details into a computer, and Robert's your mother's brother. However, they also said on the phone that I couldn't buy an iPhone outright through O2 (what's a PAYG handset then?).

What I'll probably end up doing is very carefully cutting my current SIM (there are a plethora of guides online on how to do this), just in case O2 make some sort of error and put me on to the new SIMplicity terms.

That's interesting. Until very recently there were no cashback deals on the 4. First six months interest-free credit and now cashback? I wonder if sales have peaked.

I've just been out over lunch and have reserved a 16gb Iphone 4 from Apple in Covent Garden for pickup tonight without any problems. Apparently they were launching online reservations at 2 today but they were able to do it in the store for me at 1. I also went into an o2 shop and got a micro sim so I'm all ready to go :).

Just waiting til 5 to make sure the reservation actually went through. Things are looking hopeful as there was an apple reservation email waiting for me when I got back to my desk!

Hi, I was given an iPhone 3GS for my birthday last year and now my inclusive web and wifi bolt on with O2 is about to expire. After reading this site about Sim only deals I have today bought a Sim card from T-Mobile and transferred my old number. For £10 a month you get 100 minutes, 100 texts and a choice of "Flexible Boosters" - I have chosen unlimited internet.

It's a really good deal particularly as currently if you order the Sim online, they are giving £5 off the first month. I went into the shop though, as there was no option online to put in a PAC code to keep your old number.

And it's a 30 day renewable contract only so you're not tying in for a year or more.
  • Hi
I was just wondering if anyone knows about ordering an iphone on 3. I would like to use the cashback offer, however when I click through the plans don't always come up. Then when they do, it says you have to order the 16gb on store. Is there anyway round this? Thanks.:)

Hi all. Just to let you know that I managed to get a kind of unbeatable deal yesterday from T-Mobile. I have got an Iphone4 bought directly from Apple online. I was looking for the best micro-SIM only deal and T-Mobile offered me for a 12 months contract 600 UK minutes, 500 texts, Unlimited Internet (3GB , not the 500 MB of Orange or O2...) and a flexible booster (60 International minutes) and all of that for only £10 a month. I don’t know why they gave me such a deal. Much better than Tesco, 3, GiifGaff, etc.... I was tired with the very poor and unfriendly customer service from Orange and I don’t know if CS from T-Mobile will be better but in term of SIM-only deal for Iphone they are definitely far better.

i think i just got myself a good deal, phoned up 3 as i am now due for an upgtrade from my prehistoric nokia n96:eek:, and managed to get the 16gb iphone 4 for free, with the tariff being £35 per month for 500 mins, 5000 texts, 1gb internet and 150 picture messages, which is fine by me, as i always text more than ring, so willl use no where near the 500 mins, i could have paid £99 and got the same tariff for £30 per month, but as being as it only worked out an £11 saving decided against, as i have never had a free upgrade before, even when i upgraded to the nokia n96 it cost me £150:eek::eek:, only trouble is i got to wait till november as they are awaiting a new batch that hopefully wont have the well advertised problems, does this seem a good deal?, and how far will the 1gb internet get me?
Take every day as it comes!!
