Just tried to blag a cheaper deal with O2, as I'm coming to the end of my contract and threatened to cancel. The best she could do for me was basically what a new customer would be getting, which is more expensive than Tesco.
One thing she did tell me was that the Tesco 'unlimited' internet is actually capped at 500kb a day. This sounds like rubbish to me, am I right?0 -
Im pretty sure she was talking crap.0

Having rang O2 several times and being offered the standard charges even after 10+ years with them, I rang this morning and got through to retentions who were really rude and told me that if I took my pac code my contract would cease immediately, I was a bit worried coz I had nothing else in place.
Anyway just rang again and this time retentions were very nice. They have offered me a free refurb 16gb 3GS 800 mins and free weekends, unlimited texts and web on an 18 month contract for £37. they dont have any refurbs at minute but are expecting them and she is going to ring me when they come in and assures me that this deal will defo be honoured.0 -
That sounds like a good deal kusgirl, the kind of thing I'd want. It sounds like every retentions person either has access to different offers, or a pool of offers they can 'use' up, or otherwise it depends on the customer. I was also told they had no refurbs in stock, but was never offered anything like what you're being offered.0

Me either. I would have took that if id been offered it.0

Yeah it does sound good, too bad they don't have any at the minute  Although she says the deal stands when they get the phones in. I hope so!0

Just an FYI - I bought an iPhone from Tesco Mobile a couple of weeks ago. I got a 3GS for GBP424. This was for a PAYG contract. The Clubcard points I'll get will be worth GBP34 and because I have a Tesco Credit Card, I got 12 months interest free credit. So, I'll put the money in a bank account for 12 months.
Not a spectacularly cheap deal - but it was the cheapest I could find. The 3G iPhones are selling for GBP250+ on eBay and it seemed a bit crazy to pay this for a one year old phone with no guarantee?
The phone is locked to Tesco, but I believe it will work with O2 also (as that's who Tesco use as their provider). I unlocked the phone and am using it on T-Mobile.0 -
I got sick of waiting. I upgraded online on the 24month contract at £40pm. 16Gb Iphone free. Ill just downgrade after 9months. I have no patience.0

Man I'm getting annoyed by this.. o2 seem to tell everyone something different.
A woman on saturday told me to call today, the guy today told me there was none at all and didn't know when they were getting them in. So chanced it and called this evening and again, said they didn't have any 3gs in, only 3g.:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -
Hey, each to their own, but this time next month, it looks very likely the new iPhone will be out...even if you don't like look of new one, I'd be surprised if existing 3GS are not reduced in price when new one arrives??? Surely it's worth waiting rather than signing up for contract now (especially as many contracts are for 18/24 months?)0
