I rang o2 retentions today. They told me they had no refurbs left but they are online. Funny enough they arent the same system.

I was told yesterday to call back within 48hrs apparently.

I reckon its BS. I rang back, they wont budge on the contracts that are avaliable for new customers.
  • Hi, im new to this forum & hoping for some advice...

I have had a contract with O2 since 2002 & 3 years ago i changed to their 1 month simplicity deal as i had just been given a new handset as a present and didnt see the point of paying £35/mth when i no longer a new upgrade. Sadly that phone is now dying a slow & painful(for me!) death. It is my 30th birthday this month & my parents would like to get me an iphone.

At the minute, my simplicity deal is £20/mth for 600min, 1000 texts(& free pic msgs) & unlimited internet. Do you think i could chance it by ringing O2 & asking for an iphone contract with the same tariff & iphone. I can only afford up to £25/mth & dont mind reducing to 300min, however i would like the unlimited internet & msgs. I am prepared to pay for an iphone.

I would appreciate any advice & apologise for the rambling post.

ps would anyone know if i bought an O2 pay as you go iphone, would i be able to use my own simplicity sim card & ignore the sim card provided.

O2 have told me they will hopefully have refurbished Iphones instock midweek so you have a better chance of getting one of them with that sort of contract. You might not pay any extra for the phone tho I cant be certain.

Im pretty sure you could buy a PAYG Iphone and do what you said.

Yes you can use your existing simplicity sim card in a pay as you go iPhone but you would'nt have access to visual voicemail or the wifi aspect of the iPhone tariffs. Both of these are kinda not important anyway so no problem.

What is important though is the unlimited internet. An iPhone without is it is pretty lacking.

Check here http://shop.o2.co.uk/tariffs/simplicity/iphone/12_months you might well find you'll get a much better deal swapping to a "sim only for iPhone" deal if you can stump up the cash for the pay as you go iPhone.

Just tried again and retentions said they haven't and don't have a date for when they'll be in... getting fed up and that Tesco deal looks mighty tempting...

Anyone know when orange are going to offer refurbs, they seem to be the only company (typical) that doesnt!

Might have to join O2 and get a 3gs refurb off their website

To be fair, their reconditioned prices on the website aren't that great.. you would be better looking at tesco for a new one :D
