Well i just phoned O2 and only got offered :-
Free 16GB 3GS refurb
300 Mins
Unlimited Text
Unlimited data and wifi
£35.00 per month on 18mnth contract or £30.00 per month on 24mnth contract.
I did not really want to do any more than 18 months and was looking to pay a max of £30, but they would not budge !
So really the offer i got is not as good as the others on here.........very unhappy
I think this is a brilliant offer-free iPhone-forget the refurbed bit, you wouldn't knwo the difference it's been refurbed.0 -
Well i thought i would call back again to see if i could get a better offer and now they want to charge me £89 for the refurb Iphone on an 18month contract for £35 a month - unbelievable !!!!!
No one at O2 seems to know what is going on, and everytime i have phoned i have been given different deals - none of them as good as the deals some have got on here.
Like many people on here i am totally dismayed with O2, they are not the same good company they used to be.0 -

When I phoned Virgin I spoke to one person who immediately gave me the deal I was looking for and when I called back later the next person came up with the same deal and when I said I'd have to call o2 before signing up with them she offered to call me back and gave me her name.
I know that being an existing customer would have helped but the difference in support is huge.0 -
Firstly, thanks guys (and my girlfriend for showing this website to me!), I've been watching this thread for months waiting for O2 handsets to come into stock. Imagine my annoyance when they got stock in March when I was out of the country!!
So, I just called and finally got a 3GS 16GB Refurb.
However, I had to screw around with them to get a decent tariff.
I completed a 2 year contract with them in February for a £25 per month blackberry so I had some loyalty bonus but not a massive amount.
When I called them, straight off the bat they offered me an extra free bolt on of 200 minutes, before even discussing pricing. I accepted and we moved to the pricing stage where I was offered the following:
24 month contract
iPhone 3GS 16GB
£30 per month
300 mins, Unlimited Texts, Unlimited Internet
Free 200 minutes bolt on
After quibilling the price I was told that they could manage to give me a £4 per month discount but that I would need to pay £2 for the phone. I told them that when I originally called up in February, I was offered £5 a month discount with no cost for the phone.
It was only at this point that they offered to take off the "free" extra minutes bolt on to see if they could get the contract any cheaper. Here's what I ultimately ended up with:
24 month contract
iPhone 3GS 16GB
£2 upfront charge for handset
£22 per month (After monthly £4 discount)
300 mins, Unlimited Texts, Unlimited Internet
That "free" bolt on seemed to make quite the difference! Lesson to be learned? Phone companies are douchebags and will happily repackage on the fly if you ask the right questions .....
Put's me in mind of the time I called Orange to let them know my insured phone had broken and that I needed a replacement. They told me I could only have a refurb. I told them that was unacceptable as I was paying for insurance. They told me that because I'd specifically demanded a new handset that they were authorised to send me one. Evil, evil, evil.....0 -
Nice, that's got to be the cheapest yet!
I wonder if I can refer them to this thread when I call later.0 -
@CFKemp - Wait til they deliver my handset first if you don't mind0

That is a great deal maffyew !
I just tried to call again only to be told they don't have anymore refurb 16GB 3GS left, they only have the refurb 8GB ones :-( and the advisor was quite rude about it - I GIVE UP !0 -
Jugs, call back and ask again. I don't think they're all entirely running with the same information and there is some element of luck of the draw involved. Are you an existing customer? If so make sure it's retentions you speak to.0
-
maffyew, i am an existing customer and have been for many years, but just recently it does not seem to make any difference anymore. I will try again later, but i really don't hold out much hope - i think the have beaten me !!!!
Update - they are now telling me that you will only get a free refurb 16GB 3GS phone if you go on a £45 per month or above tarriff, so i asked for my PAC code.0 -
Hi I'm an O2 existing customer. Just rang up told them I was thinking of switching to Tesco. Ended up getting a 3gs iphone 16gb with 300 minutes, free unlimited texts and data all for £27 a month on a 18 month contract. Thanks0
