202...2.....2
1st attempt at 3gs 16gb on O2 stating i was thinking of going to Tesco and been with them for 10 yrs + was
179 + 30/mth for 18 mths....asked for Refurb and no joy.
He was saying rather than pay 320 buy one off Ebay and get the simplicity O2 sim for 15/mth
When asked for pac code he was matter of fact ...... no further attempts at a better deal...'ok sir it will be with you in the next 24 hrs blah blah blah...........'
Willl try again in next few days
2nd try....
No Refurbs, no change on above...but the guy said that i could get the phone free with a 50 quid/mth tariff....but i could downgrade after 9 mths to 45 and so on each month down to 25 quid....did my homework and this is more money over the 18 mth contract!!!
So i asked if 24 mths would be more cost efffective, he said yes 25 quid a month.....but he Was shocked when he read that the initial prcie of 179 went up to 220 quid:eek:.....FOR LOCKING ME IN LONGER...I DONT THINK SO!!!!
WILL TRY LATER0 -
Well i called O2 retentions about 5 times and the best deal i could get out of them was a free 16GB iphone 3GS (brand new) on a £40 a month for 18 months. I was told that there should have been a charge for the phone on that tariff, but the waived it as i had been with them for some time.
Really £40 a month was more than i wanted to pay, but as with others i was told i could reduce my monthly payments after 9 months. O2 are very difficult to deal with nowadays and every time i called i used to get totally different information - for such a big company this is very poor.
I could have got the phone for £35 a month but that was on a 24 month tariff - but 2 years seems a long time to me !0 -
Does anyone know where the cheapest place to get a sim free iphone 16 GB white is?

Or is it best to just jump ship?
Orange haven't had the iPhone long enough to get refurbs; Apple are not allowing any leeway on tariff pricing. I defected to Tesco as they are the cheapest according to Martin's article and no regrets so far - service in store and on the phone good, only a one year contract before I can go SIM only, sell the handset or defect again to O2. :beer:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
normally july isn't it?:beer:0

Apparently June twice and July once.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Hi all!
It seems that not a lot of people have posted their experiences with Orange, so thought I'd share mine
Been with orange for just over 2 years now and got a great deal last time I upgraded (paying 25 for a contract worth 40). Rang retentions yesterday as my contract ends in 30 days, and haggled for a while. The guy was really friendly, and said Orange can't budge on iPhone prices at all. What you see on the website is what you can get. I considered bringing up the standard 10% loyalty bonus, but even if they did that, it's still out of my price range and I really don't want to pay for a handset (never have).
I ended up getting a deal on an HTC Desire, which is the one I really wanted as my second option, and have been offered £27.50 on an 18 month contract, free phone, 300mins unlimited texts, anytime mobile internet (Orange caps it at 500mb/month), which is the equivalent of £30 a month and £100 for the handset on the website. He also offered £20 a month for 24 months for the same deal.
Unlikely! I said I'd think about it and am ringing again tonight to get the price down further and get some more extras out of them. Wish me luck! :j
Oh also, incase this helps someone: Orange retentions are open 0800-2200 Mon-Fri and 0800-2130 Sat-Sun and the best time to ring is just before "closing time", in my experience!0 -
I just got called o2 upgrades and then retentions, and was told that what is on their upgrade website is the best they can offer me. The one that is tempting me is the 16Gb 3GS on the £30 tariff over 18 months, but they want £179 for the handset.
Orange and Vodafone really don't compare, and whilst the tesco offer is good, £320 is a rather large outlay for a lowly student like myself. It also appears that o2 are out of refurbs at the moment, none listed online and when I mentioned them on the phone the woman went on and on about how great a deal they are (I agree) but that they didn't have any in stock.
Time to put my thinking cap on!0
