Jugs, if you've been with them for years then there's something seriously wrong going on there. I'd suggest asking them why they can't match the offers you're seeing here.

Firstly, thanks guys (and my girlfriend for showing this website to me!), I've been watching this thread for months waiting for O2 handsets to come into stock. Imagine my annoyance when they got stock in March when I was out of the country!!

So, I just called and finally got a 3GS 16GB Refurb.

However, I had to screw around with them to get a decent tariff.

I completed a 2 year contract with them in February for a £25 per month blackberry so I had some loyalty bonus but not a massive amount.

When I called them, straight off the bat they offered me an extra free bolt on of 200 minutes, before even discussing pricing. I accepted and we moved to the pricing stage where I was offered the following:

    24 month contract
    iPhone 3GS 16GB
    £30 per month
300 mins, Unlimited Texts, Unlimited Internet
    Free 200 minutes bolt on

After quibilling the price I was told that they could manage to give me a £4 per month discount but that I would need to pay £2 for the phone. I told them that when I originally called up in February, I was offered £5 a month discount with no cost for the phone.

It was only at this point that they offered to take off the "free" extra minutes bolt on to see if they could get the contract any cheaper. Here's what I ultimately ended up with:

    24 month contract
    iPhone 3GS 16GB
    £2 upfront charge for handset
£22 per month (After monthly £4 discount)
300 mins, Unlimited Texts, Unlimited Internet

That "free" bolt on seemed to make quite the difference! Lesson to be learned? Phone companies are douchebags and will happily repackage on the fly if you ask the right questions .....

Put's me in mind of the time I called Orange to let them know my insured phone had broken and that I needed a replacement. They told me I could only have a refurb. I told them that was unacceptable as I was paying for insurance. They told me that because I'd specifically demanded a new handset that they were authorised to send me one. Evil, evil, evil.....

Damn, I thought I was going to get the deal of the day. Well done mate!

Joshben, 202 on your o2 phone. Then option 2, option 2.

    I've been using 2302, then 2, 2, 1, 2.
  • Apologies if I'm jumping into a thread that I shouldn't, but I am in need of advice please.

I am hoping to get an iPhone for my B'day at the start of June, but don't have a clue what the best route is. I've currently got a cheapo £17 Virgin Mobile Liberty Sim deal that offers 700mins per month + loads of texts (but no web access). The key reason for wanting to get the iPhone is for the apps, but I reckon I still need about 500 mins talk time to be safe. Not really bothered about texts.

Reading the main iPhone blog post, it mentions a Tesco tariff based on a SIM only route - so a potential iPhone purchase off eBay, rather than a combined deal.

I've no idea whether buying an unlocked phone might mean that it won't work properly etc. so is it a risky option? Hope that someone can assist.

    179 + 30/mth for 18 mths....asked for Refurb and no joy.
He was saying rather than pay 320 buy one off Ebay and get the simplicity O2 sim for 15/mth

When asked for pac code he was matter of fact ...... no further attempts at a better deal...'ok sir it will be with you in the next 24 hrs blah blah blah...........'

Willl try again in next few days

    My iphone "disappeared" this afternoon.

I've reported it to O2 and it's been blocked. (or killed as my daughter's fiance so delightfully put it) I've even been able to get a new SIM from my local O2 store and it's been transferred to my number.

I've reported the "disappearance" to the restaurant I was in when it disappeared, and to the shopping Centre the restaurant is in, and to the Police.

I can't get hold of my insurance company to see if it will be covered. If they won't replace it, where is the best place to get a PAYG 3gs?

I am so angry with myself :(
