It's 202 from an o2 phone then 2,2,2 and 2 on the menu options.0 -
Hi I've been with o2 for roughly 5 years. Since 12th of June 2009 I have only been on the simplicity 10 tariff as I didn't need to use the phone as much as previously, due to a job change I will need to use a mobile more. So my question is, will retentions offer me a good deal to keep me or will they be prepared to see me walk as I am on a low tariff at the moment? Any advice about the way I should play it to get myself a nice shiny refurb iphone appreciated.0

I was on the simplicity 15 for 6 months, I had been on contracts with O2 for years though.
I phoned on the 24th Feb and said I was interested in getting an Iphone and a new contract what kind of deals can you offer me? The guy offered me a refurb 16gb 3gs for £35 per month for 18 months with a £5 loyalty discout so its £30 a month, or a refurb 32gb 3gs for 18 months at £35. Both phones were free. I took the 16gb 3gs as I dont need the 32gb and didnt want the extra per month.
They were happy to get my business, as I was only paying £15 per month and talked of moving if I could get an Iphone deal else where. Now they have me for 18 months and getting £30.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

Thanks for that Nic was it retentions you spoke to or just the ordinary upgrade team?0 -
there are no refurb iphones in stock i have been waiting for while now-and your lucky to get those deals-i have spent hours on the phone and i'm a gold customer-i had to sent a complaint in from the hassle i have had-still waiting on my iphone-its a total struggle to get anywhere with o2 these days-the customer service is rubbish-i hve 30 days left on my contract and i cant haggle a deal as no new or refurn 3gs iphones in stock-and i already had a deal which o2 failed to note on my account-so when you get offered a deal it only stands on that phone call-if you phone back they wont know what ur talking about-trust me0

Lieutenant_Thrift wrote: »Well called retentions back tonight, had a very pushy guy at the other end who claimed to know nothing of what was said last night and tried to sell us 24 months @ £40 + a new phone as if we were new business and hadn't been paying them for over two years. Only dropped down to £32 when we mentioned last night and said he could do a refurb 16GB 3g (not 3GS). He said the deal is only guaranteed for this call and will likely not be available if we phone back again. (or in other words, sign up now or we could be even meaner than we were on this call). When asked if he could do a shorter contract, he said it would be £37 for 18 months. I'm on £26 for 1100 minutes just now and what he offered just ain't value for money for an iphone that'll be even more obsolete in 2 years than it already is now.
I was assuming that there'd be a note on our account of what was said last night. Or maybe there was and he was just desperate to get £40 a month from us for 2 years +the cost of a new phone. Who knows?
Anyway, we said we'd still like to think about it and we might call again and hopefully get someone who's more customer friendly as we had last night.
Or we might just go to Tesco or Orange and lose our £5 o2 broadband discount. Tough choices as they say.
To be continued.....

Pehaps speak to a manager next time, or if it was me....
Most modern mobiles have recorderson them, so record the phone calls. There's usually a beep every minutes, but there could be an option to turn that off.
Also, it's nothing to do with how many times you ring as far as I can tell, it's purely who you get on the day.0 -

it was retentions. I had to ring 3 times. The first guy told me id got the wrong dept and put me through to upgrades. Then I rung back and got the same guy, 3rd time lucky I got an excellent guy, he couldnt be more friendly and helpful, I wish id got his name:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

That's why you should record the call, then you have proof of offer.
Makes no sense to say it'sonly valid for one call, easy way to lose customers... of course also an easy way to make people take a deal.0 -

I know-i put ina complaint about it all and apparently they are going to credit my account when i get my iphone-i'll believe it when i see it -they haven't had any new or refurb 3gs iphones in stock for almost 2 weeks.
i will actually be amazed if i get it next week-they have said more due in next week so we will see
fed up now-i have 30 dys left on my contract as they changed it to sim only-and even that doesnt help when no stock to haggle!0
