  • Sorry, it's a 3GS i'm gettng!!! Doh technology!

thats better!...why didn't u get unimited texts-all the tarrifs have that now?

I want what you got but with unlimited texts....did u get the deal through retentions or upgrades?i got told by upgrades not allowed a deal as upgrading 3 months early??

I am due to upgrade in a week so hoping i can get what u did as i said but having problems as not in last month of contract etc..who did you speak too?
  • Hiya, I spoke to a really nice woman called Sue at 202, 2, 2,2 (select 2 if you want to leave 02). I don't know why she didn't offer me the unlimited txts(maybe because I don't really need them - she did look at my current package). I said I was just enquiring as I had 3 months left of my old contract but she said it was fine and she could do it today but I had to accept it today as I wouldn't maybe get the same offer in 3 months time! I did quote a few deals from this website and was really nice to her all the time I was on the phone - took about an hour in total (45 mins waiting in a queue and 15 chatting to her). I had previously phoned upgrades last week and was told that I was too early to upgrade too. Hope this is useful for you.
  • Feeling pretty cheeses off with O2. Have been with them for 5 years and the best I could do after repeated calling was a free refurbished 8gb 3g on the £35 p/m tariff.
I'm in the 14 day cooling off period so when I saw that the tariffs had changed (the £30 per month one is now more than enough for my needs) I rang to see if they would just downgrade the tariff. But oh no, not only would I have to return the whole kit and caboodle but I would then have to re-order at a cost for the phone of £57 (for a refurb!). Which bearing in mind I can downgrade to the £30 pm tariff in 9 months (saving only £45 over the rest of the term) seems designed to be deliberately obstructive.
The only thing stopping me leaving O2 is that i've got their broadband package and save £5 per month if I have my phone with them too.
For anyone interested, I haven't seen anyone mention the Orange boadband/iPhone package on here. If I wasn't tied to o2 I would have gone with it. It's £60 pm and gives 20mb download speed, unlimited downloads, inclusive evening and weekend calls, line rental, wireless router and a 32gb 3GS iPhone with 1200 minutes and 500 texts.
Not sure if this is for 18 or 24 months, but if you're in the market for broadband, landline phone and iPhone all at once then this seems really good value.

Sucks, you should deifnitely send the phone back. I reckon if you just send it back, then ring up you'd get a better deal... don't try and sort it out all at once.

Why anyone accepts the iPhone 3g is beyond me, it's probably as old as the phone you are upgrading from, less of an upgrade; more of an exchange.

My iPhone 3G 18 month contract ends 28th March - so I'm just entering last month of contract. I'm on the £45 per month tariff 1200 mins 500 texts (I never use all those minutes)

I was toying with either getting the HTC Desire in early April or waiting for the new iPhone in June (looking for an 18 month contract on both and will gladly lower my monthly minutes allowance if this saves me money on my monthly tariff)

So what would be my best approach to getting the best deal? Transfer to a rolling O2 Simplicity deal now? The £25 or £30 one would suit me fine and save me money per month.

Then in a month or so take out a new contract once HTC deals launch or even stay on Simplicity until new iPhone is announced and look at a contract on that.

Or would I be in a stronger position for tariff reduction etc going down the O2 customer retention route from my ending iPhone contract into something new? From what I've read my O2 18 month contract turns to a rolling one month contract on same tariff so I can leave when I want if needed.

I don't want to shift to SIM only or leave O2 if it will put me in a weaker postion to get a good contract deal. Is it likely O2 will offer retention deals on a new phone like the HTC Desire?

Is it doubtful they will offer retention deals on new iPhone in summer? (unsure what was offered to 3GS customers for retention).

    Any advice most appreciated thanks.

I'm not on o2, but from what I've read you'd be better off getting the rolling contract and then upgrading as and when you want to.

I would wait for the new iPhone as by then the HTC Desire will be released so you'll be to get even better deals on it in the wake of the iPhone release...
I'd imagine o2 will do deals on the desire when it's first released; it would be foolish not to.

Surely deals would be better in 3 months?
