It's a 7 day cooling off period so the phone doesn't need to be faulty. I called to return mine within the 7 day window and it took around 2 weeks and several more telephone calls to acually get it collected. Plus another 2 weeks for them to issue me with a PAC number - again with lots of phone calls! Their customer service is actually worse than their network coverage!

    WARNING!!!!
I got impatient waiting for a refurb on O2 so left and went to Vodafone as at the time (last week) they offered unlimited text whereas O2 didn't (no one bothered to tell me they would in a week's time, no one tried to get me to stay-NOTHING). I paid the usual £35 per month (24months) and £89 for 3gs handset. I have had NO RECEPTION all week. One bar tops. Have called VF several times to complain and nothing. Now I realise I may be screwed as there is only a 7 day window to return if faulty. Do not trust Vodafone's signal map. I live in London, so if I can't get a reception-forget it. Total rip off! Wish I had waited a week :(

I would return it asap, I was with Vodafone for a very short period as they had a good deal at the time. I had NO reception wherever I went. Fair enough I live in a rural village but even when I went to Glasgow it was non exsistant. I left as soon as I could and went for an O2 simplicity. Maybe O2 would be glad to have you back and give you a decent deal. I get full 5 bars or coverage with O2 in my house and pretty much everywhere I go.

If you have no signal and they advertise that they have signal in your area (map of masts), you should be able to terminate the contract as they aren'tproviding you with the service that you are paying for.

Not sure of the legal obligations, but I'd assume they can't charge you for a service you aren't receiving....

  • Thanks guys. Totally ridiculous service. They are saying 7 days return policy, so I am hoping the fact I called them 7 days later and made a note on my account is enough. Just back from the store and they say no returns. But this is a rip off con, not just a normal return so they WILL be taking it back if it's the last thing I do (hahah well hopefully not).
I want others to realise that map does'nt mean **** before they sign up. Back to O2 soon I hope! xxx
PS VF said i could pay for "sure signal" at the cost of £50. I asked them if they were joking?!

No coverage map is worth anything because no one has to tell the networks if the build anything. And obviously they can't be checking the signal outside everyone's home all the time.

My mate used to have full bars all the time, then they built a block of flats at the end of his road (between him and the closest mast), now he's lucky if he gets 2 bars...
  • It suprises me that no-one has mentioned Tesco in this thread. Their deals seem to be better than O2s.

I've had an iPhone on the Tesco £20/month tariff (they only have 2 options, £20 or £60) per month). £20 per month gives you £60 value of calls or texts. You then pay a hefty up front charge for the phone.

For me their £20 per month tariff didn't give me sufficient calls / texts. You can go over but then you pay the full cost of calls and texts. As an example in my first few weeks I went through my initial tariff allowance and my total bill came to £65!!!!! I didn't really want their £60 per month unlimited package because this was a bit like overkill. With O2 I'll go with their £35 per months plan and then add the family bolt on for another £7.50 which will give me all I need.

ordered my vodafone PAC, came via text and letter saying good bye but give them a call to see if they can do anything. as i can get a friends and family discount on orange with 20% monthly discount, i thought i would ask. but vodafone can not do anything on the iphone on discounts.
  • i would say o2 and vodafone have better deals than tesco?
