My OH has just upgraded her phone to an iPhone and after playing with it last night I've decided I want one.

Problem is I don't like contracts and have got a great deal on my current o2 PAYG tarriff.

Where is the cheapest place to get a sim free iphone? I'm fine with refurbished but all the sites I'm seeing are selling it at £400+

You can buy an iphone 3g on PAYG for £360 (new), you might be able to phone o2 and ask if you can buy a refurb for PAYG (not really sure if they would do that though).

Apple do have a refurb site, but they've not had iphones on there for a LLLLLOOOOONNNGGG time (we're talking years).
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!

I saw the refurb option on the apple site but thought the chances of been able to get one when its in stock are incredibly slim.

I've been with o2 for a long time on PAYG so they might offer me one.

Another question would I be able to use my current sim?

I top up £15 a month and get unlimited internet & texts.

I use £7.50 of that for my family bolt on.

eBay is probably your best bet.....
  • Hiya, I spoke to a really nice woman called Sue at 202, 2, 2,2 (select 2 if you want to leave 02). I don't know why she didn't offer me the unlimited txts(maybe because I don't really need them - she did look at my current package). I said I was just enquiring as I had 3 months left of my old contract but she said it was fine and she could do it today but I had to accept it today as I wouldn't maybe get the same offer in 3 months time! I did quote a few deals from this website and was really nice to her all the time I was on the phone - took about an hour in total (45 mins waiting in a queue and 15 chatting to her). I had previously phoned upgrades last week and was told that I was too early to upgrade too. Hope this is useful for you.

    Jackie is your birthday 20/03/1970??

    I.

your current sim will work but you wont be connected to the 3g network, you need a 3g sim for that and im pretty sure they wouldnt upgrade your current payg sim to a 3g one. it might be easier just going to 02 simplicity, they do a month to month contract specificly for the iphone for £20 a month with unlimited wifi and internet, 300 mins and unlimited texts. If you dont want to change from your current deal, you might aswell just buy a used 2g iphone off ebay which will be cheaper than a 3g.

I know its weird.....i don't think they will let me upgrade till Tuesday so i hope they don't come in till Monday or something-knowing my luck they'll come in 2mrw or something-the last o2 guy i spoke to really nice-reduced my current tarrif to a sim only deal until the handsets come in and gave me his extension number and said he'd do me the deal i want-going for the 16gb as cant afford the 32 gb really being a student!

can everyone who's trying for the refurb 3gs post on here if u find they are in stock..i'll do the same!!
