Herein lies your problem I think, are you sure you are listening to all of the options when you ring up?

It asks if you are calling about the mobile you are ringing from first, it then says press one for billing and payment and press two for upgrades or if you are thinking of leaving 02..... so press two.

Then it says press 1 for upgrades or press 2 if you are thinkig of leaving, are you pressing 1 at this point before you hear the rest of the options? If you press 2 here you will go straight through to retentions and wont have to deal with upgrades at all.

Also, if you wait a couple of weeks you may well find the deals get better as you will be out of contract, you just may have to be persistent for a further week or two after that until you get what you want.

But surely its worth a couplemore weeks without one and saving the money in the end rather than switching contracts just to get one quickly?!

Hey, that' the problem, I am not out of contract till May, i am due early renewal 3 months early from 9th March as i am a gold customer and have been told my some ppl i can get deals and others say i cant until my contract actually ends in May. The last time i renewed early i got a deal-so don't see why not when i have been an o2 customer for 8 years and am looking to take out broadband too.

Hi all - got my deal! yay!

Free 16GB 3GS phone, £31pm 600m 500texts, ultd wireless/3G, 18months. Really happy with that.

Might be of use to some of you - I was told by the retentions lady I spoke to this morning (202, 2, 2, 2) that when your account is accessed by them, dependent on loyalty period and monthly spend, you have a "pot" of money they can spend on you. With this they can either discount the phone cost, or discount the monthly cost. So I was also offered a £50 refurb 3GS 16Gb with a discount tariff of £28, but did the sums and on an 18 month contract the £31pm tariff costs only £4 more than the £28pm and will give me more "credit" to spend next upgrade.

lucky you i got no where..i'm trying in another 2 weeks!

I think there is far more ability to make deals in the last month - remember if you go through Retentions you're not simply upgrading and they know they have 3 more months on your contract before you could leave.

thanks every one i called retentions 3 times this morning and the third time the person said phone were available. the first two flatly denied having any phone. thanks all of you for your help.

He said contracts will be changing friday but this will prob still be best for me with what I use but can wait if I want.

After seeing what others had been offered I thought I may be able to get better deal maybe £30 a month as Ive been with O2 for about 10 years!

What you think? any advice appreciated.

I've been with 02 since BT Genie days and have spent no more than £25pm, and was offered the deal I posted a few posts up - I don't need unltd texts or minutes, do you? If not, try knocking those down to 500/600 each and see if that changes anything?
