Sorry haven't waded through the 70 odd pages before asking this but my wife has been offered a 32 GB 3GS iPhone from Vodaphone on a 12 month contract for £89 for the phone and with £55 a month for 1200 mins, unlimited texts and 1Gb data. She is a long time Vodaphone customer and this was just offered, in a proper Voadaphone store, as her 'upgrade' as her current contract is ending.

Seems to be quite reasonable compared to the offers generally advertised. Is there a catch I haven't spotted or are there better deals out there?

how come you all got these deals.

Just do as I did and ring up and say something along the lines of "hi I rang up and spoke to someone last week about the possibility of upgrading to an iphone. The deal they told me about involved a re-furbed iphone but he said you didn't have any in at the time and I was just wondering if they were in yet?" they say yep we have them in, what was it you were offered?" you say "£35/m free 32gb 3gs etc etc."

Just be nice as pie with them, you wont get anywhere if you start whining and also make sure you go through to retentions, dial 202 and then keep pressing 2 (think its three times)

Thanks I'll try that idea, but i was really nice, was just annoyed they wernt offering me any discount at all, they said the tarrifs are changing from 23rd march to offering unlimited texts or something. i dialled 202 but was just a menu and i selected to go through to ugrades, then asked to spk to manager....as guy on phone was saying i couldn't upgrade 3 months early as havent spent enough due to my discount last time....i said i was told few days ago i could..., then he changed his mind....o2 change their mind every minute! So i hope they change their mind 2mrw and offer me a deal

So you really just asked and you got-can u remember who you spoke to...women or a man..when was it?
  • Aaagh, have to wait until tomorrow now. First time I don't check this thread for ages and the damn things are back in stock!

you need to press 2, 2 and then 2 again until it says "thinking of leaving o2" don't go through to upgrades as they may not offer it. It was a woman but can't remember her name sorry!

Good Luck! If it doesn't work just keep trying!
  • I shall try my luck tomorrow. I do really like the 3g I got today, but it is pretty slow compared to my friends 3gs.

Does anyone know if the 14 day cooling off period will apply because I have used the phone today :o
    Thanks

  • louisa2010,

i phoned up yesterday, both upgrades and retentions and had no luck whatsoever, but i wasn't due an upgrade until today, that's when the real deals come out!

so i came on this forum and had a look at the deals people were getting so i phoned retentions. if you phone upgrades you won't get anything!!

with my deal (post #1442), the girl was a legend. i was supposed to be paying £179 for the phone but she said the computer let her waive the fee. also said that i should be getting 500 texts but the computer let her add the unlimited bolt on for free.

keep trying and you'll get the deal you want

Sorry if this has been asked before ive only just found this thread and had a read over the last 20 pages. Ive been on an 02 simplicity (30 days at a time one ) for 7 months now. I was going to call O2 tonight to ask about what happens when moving from simplicity to a contract, then I found this thread. As the simplicity is still a contract could I call retentions tomorrow and ask about a refurb or will they tell me to take a running jump? Ive had a proper O2 contract for the last 6 years but only changed to simplicity as I lost my job back then.
