Sorry if this has been asked before ive only just found this thread and had a read over the last 20 pages. Ive been on an 02 simplicity (30 days at a time one ) for 7 months now. I was going to call O2 tonight to ask about what happens when moving from simplicity to a contract, then I found this thread. As the simplicity is still a contract could I call retentions tomorrow and ask about a refurb or will they tell me to take a running jump? Ive had a proper O2 contract for the last 6 years but only changed to simplicity as I lost my job back then.
Be persistent, I was on the simplicity plan for over six months after my contract ended last year. Rang every fews day in January to enquire about deals, then came across this thread. After a week of trying was offered 16GB 3GS free £30 - 75mins, 125txt and unlimited internet on a 18 month contract. Pushed for more, but nothing doing. Had the phone for three weeks, very nice bit of kit. :money:0 -
Hi, I've been reading this thread with interest.
My iphone contract with O2 came to an end in December and I'm really unsure what to do next. I want to stick with the iphone but don't know if I should try and negotiate a good deal on a refurbished 3GS, or wait for the iphone 4 to come out?
Or, would it be possible to get a new contract on a 3GS and then sell it to fund a iphone 4 and switch sim to the newer phone?
I've also heard rumours that the iphone does not work well on Vodaphone, but no idea if this is saleman's patter or actually true.
All advice appreciated!
Bump;)

they said yes, then wouldnt budge on any offer-not even a fiver-as a gold customer of 8 years!! how come you all got these deals...i told him about them and he said they don't exsit.
He had a 16gb ref 3gs in stock for free but wanted 45 quid a month for it over 2 years contract....i was like no way! so i am going to try back 2mrw and see what they say...absolutley gutted if there not gona give me a discount. I said i didnt mind paying for the handset but i wanted unlimited texts for 30-35 quid a month and they said unlimited texts doesnt exist with the iphone!!!!!! and that if i wanted that would need to bolt on or something
i never have any luck--vodafone offering a better deal and thats just anyone
8 years loyalty for what?
There's your problem... if you give an inch, they'll take a mile. Definitely be polite, but be firm too. Also willing to bet that you just got a ratty CSA.
As others said, make sure you click the option for, ' Thinking of leaving o2'.... this is the retentions department and they have more flexibility than upgrades.
Unlimited txts is a bolt on from what ive gathered, but they can give it for free, at least to some people they can.
I'm on orange BTW, so I feel the iPhone pain more than most as orange are as flexible as lead on iPhone deals.0 -

Does anyone know if the 14 day cooling off period will apply because I have used the phone today
Thanks

I'd imagine so, as there'd be no point in having the phone sitting in a box for 14 days0 -
Sorry haven't waded through the 70 odd pages before asking this but my wife has been offered a 32 GB 3GS iPhone from Vodaphone on a 12 month contract for £89 for the phone and with £55 a month for 1200 mins, unlimited texts and 1Gb data. She is a long time Vodaphone customer and this was just offered, in a proper Voadaphone store, as her 'upgrade' as her current contract is ending.
Seems to be quite reasonable compared to the offers generally advertised. Is there a catch I haven't spotted or are there better deals out there?
Total contract cost over 12 months is £749.
Most people on o2 are getting an iPhone for free and an 18 month 35£ pm contract... works out at £630.
Now obviously if she wishes to sell the phone at the end of the 12 months it will be worth more than it would be if you sold it 18 months down the line, however, when the new iphone comes out, the 3gs will depreciate rather quickly, so cant see you making much on it anyway.
Worth noting that the o2 contracts are generally refurbished phones, but it doesn't matter as they are as new.
Will she use her minutes?
I would try ringing up vodafone retentions and seeing what they will offer.....0 -

If it was me I'd wait. If you are happy with the 3G, why waste your upgrade on getting a car with a retuned engine, when you can get a completely new model in 3 or 4 months?
Do we even know which network the new iPhone will be available on yet?
Also, once the 4G is out, the 3gs will depreciated hugely IMO.0 -
Hi,
I have been reading the deals some people are getting on this thread, I am looking for an i phone myself, I want the monthly payments as low as poss and don't really need alot of mins or texts, this is the best deal I have found online - £30 per month, £125 handset (16gb 3gs) 150 mins, 250 texts and unlimited internet with orange on 24 month contract - total cost: £845.. Just wondered if anyone can tell me if this is an ok deal or not?
Also, does anyone know when the 4g is out? Is it worth hanging on for it or will it be alot more expensive to begin with?
Thanks!0 -

Okay Just of the phone to o2 retentions-set my alarm and everything to phone then at 8am to see if i could get a better deal. This is what happened.....
asked to get put through to retentions dept...the she asked why...told her i had bee offered a good deal, so t5hey transfered me to retentions. i spoke to a guy he was like you cant upgrade for another 2 weeks!!! and he was happy to go ahead with my deal but when checked system he couldnt do it-DAM
i then phoned back to spk to someone else in upgrades and she was so unhelpful....i am getting fed up now-she said do you just want to cancel? and was saying im just due the same offers nyone else is-do discount.
So im waiting another 2 weeks and then trying-if not will just cancel my contract as they don't care and vodafone do unlimited texts with there iphone! I don't see the point in staying with the same company if there no deals or better offers than other ones around!0 -
I just called O2 retentions and spoke to the most helpful guy. I told him I had a simplicity deal and was thinking of leaving to get a good contract, he asked what kind of phone I was looking for, I told him an Iphone, he said well you have 2 options, you can get a new one and pay for the handset and £45 a month for 24 months or we have refurb ones you can have for free and have for £30 a month !!
So in the end I got 16gb 3gs for Free
600mins
500texts
unlimited data
unlimited wi fi
£30 18 month contract.
he offered me the 32gb 3gs, same deal but £35 a month. that would work out as an extra £90 and dont really need that space. Im going from £15 month at the moment so I wanted to keep it low.
Thanks so much guys for this thread and info, I would have had no idea about the refurbs.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0
