i am with o2 on a simplicity deal.

How do i contact o2 retentions to see if i can get an iphone deal?

Some people on this forum write as if they just dial a phone number and get through to retention straight away, is that correct?

If so what is the number please?

can you get two iphones and share the mins and text on 02 business iphone tariff?

also does anyone know if 02 have friends and family discount on the iphone?
  • I've been following this discussion with interest and difficulty over the last week. My BF and I both have mobiles: mine is just "for emergencies" ie I never use it; he uses his but rarely. He makes the occasional call and gets texts with his football team's goals but that's about it.
I'm basically writing on his behalf. He's had the same mobile phone for about 9 or 10 years, so obviously it's really ancient! He's got an ongoing contract with Orange and I think he pays about £20 per month, which I think is a shocking waste of money given how terrible the phone is ie no camera or anything! He has never upgraded after trying to do so many years ago and being told he didn't use it enough to qualify. He'd really like an iphone or similar as the additional functionality would be more useful than basic calls or texts, but we just don't know where to start! I imagine he should ring Orange retentions and try to negotiate with them, but I think he'd like to leave them and start from scratch. Would he be better off cancelling the contract and getting a phone from Tesco? He also finds going into phone shops really embarrassing.
Have you got any simple advice (not too technical) for two rather naive people?
    Thanks very much in advance!

Just discovered that if you have a Tesco credt card you can buy the iphone interest free over 12 months which could be a reasonable option rather than pay out 300 or 400 £.

Interesting! How do you go about this. Get the credit card first or do you have to get them together??

We have had a Tesco credit card for many years. Everything we buy goes on it - hardly use cash at all. Get loads of points every quarter than we spend on airmiles or holidays which increases their value 4 times. The 12 month iphone deal can be found at Tesco direct. Went into Tesco mobile shop today but they were not aware of the deal originally but on phoning up confirmed it was 12 month interest free deal only available by phoning Tesco direct.
Trying to work out the deal at the moment. 16gb in black is £440.with 1000 club card points which is worth £10 or x 4 £40. Not sure if this is then doubled in their current promotion and also may get more points if paying with their credit card. All difficult to truly assess. If anyone else of greater mind than mine can work it out let me know. Don't think this deal is covered by the Tesco Bonus Card.

As I understand it it is available to everyone other than Bonus Cards. I went through the process of ordering on line and that offered me 1800 clubcard points which equates to £18 x 4 = £72. This is strange because it mentions 1000 points x 2 at the start of the process so unsure where I lost 200 points.
Now do I earn even more by using my Tesco Platimum Card. I think I do but cannot get through on the phone for them to confirm. Could it be another 1000 points otherwise there would be no point in using the Tesco c card. Also if I opt for the 12 month payment option what points do I then earn? Perhaps Martin could help to clarify this one as I getting confused without definitive answers.

The Bonus credit card is included in the list of cards (I have the original Platinum one), I bought a TV for my dad at Christmas using BNPL.
    • Tesco Classic Credit Card,
    • Tesco Platinum Credit Card,
    • Tesco Bonus Credit Card,
    • Tesco Clubcard Credit Card.
The Tesco Business Credit Card is excluded.

    For the 16GB you get 440 x 2 = 880 Clubcard points +
1000 Clubcard points when you buy ANY Tesco Mobile PAYG phone (expires 24th Jan 2010).
Total of 1880 Clubcard points (worth £75.20 in Deals).

I already have a phone on the Tesco Mobile staff tariff and when I logged onto my account last week, I noticed that there was £70 voucher available to me so that I could upgrade my phone.

I requested it and it was delivered 3 days later.

My OH is going to use this voucher and my 10% staff discount to get one from a nearby Tesco with a phone store (Oldham).

He was considering the interest free online option, but when I discovered the voucher he decided it was the best option.

It can be unlocked after 12 months.

That's a great reply and throws a little more light on the subject. Now if I pay with the Tesco Credit Card how many if any more points do I get? Any ideas? Think we may be on to saving a bit of money here.
Shame the PAYG is locked for 12 months but if you are getting 12 months internet that's not a bad deal. Also shame cannot get cashback from Topcashback at Tesco. Are there any other cashback sites for Tesco Direct?
