It's just web only, not wi-fi.
Mind you, I think the wi-fi is a bit of a con - it only covers a few public wi-fi areas which tend to be in places with good signal anyway (city centres, usually). If you're using a home/office wi-fi it's free of charge already.0 -
Thanks, tbh I always get confused with the whole wifi thing. I tend to use my iphone on wifi when I'm at home and at work - so presumeably I'd need the web and wifi bolt-on to continue doing this? But maybe it's not such a biggie? Am seriously thinking of switching tariffs - I'm not a big user of calltime.

No - you don't need the wi-fi bolt on if that's the case.
The wi-fi bolt-on is there to allow you to use the wi-fi connection in public areas - normally bars, coffee shops and restaurants - using either the BT Openzone or The Cloud network of wi-fi hotspots. Because BT and The Cloud have to pay for their internet connection, they charge o2 for their customers to access their wi-fi networks.
Your internet connections at home and at the office are paid for by you and your company. When you connect to them with your iPhone, it acts just like a wireless laptop - o2 aren't involved at that point, it's a connection from your iPhone to your internet service provider.
I don't have the wi-fi bolt-on and I connect to the office network and my Virgin wireless network at home just fine. Similarly, where bars and coffee shops offer free wi-fi, I can connect there too without any problems.
Hope that helps!0 -
Aah, I completely understand now! lol am a bit of a dunce - wasn't realising this only applied to Openzone and The Cloud. Thanks for explaining that. Think I'll deffo switch tariffs now.
Thanks again.

orange now offer friends and family discount on iphone contracts 20% off ;-)0

I am with O2 on a simplicity deal.
How do I contact O2 Retentions to see if I can get an iPhone deal?
Some people on this forum write as if they just dial a phone number and get through to retention straight away, is that correct?
If so what is the number please?0 -
Don't think that I have seen any mention of O2's Small Business User account on this thread ( apologies if I am wrong) - I am on this tariff, and got my iPhone free of charge, with 600 minutes, 500 texts and unlimited calls to 10 registered landlines, unlimited internet, WiFi bolt-on and itemised billing - for £31 + VAT a month!0

i looked at 02 business tariffs, but then i don't have a business0

if on an orange iphone contract i.e. 24 months at £35/month, can you downgrade to £30/month after a certain amount of time?0
