How did you get £29 per month as the rate?

I said I was going to leave to go to Orange as they were offering the N97 (what I said I wanted but o2 don't do the N97 ;))at the price I was prepared to pay (£25 per month) that's when they offered me the iPhone and the Blackberry (blackberry slightly cheaper monthly but I don't like it)

After around 8 calls to o2 retentions and being offered various iphone refurbs (although out of stock), I phoned again today asking if the refurbs were back in stock and they weren't so I asked about new iphones and I managed today to get the following:

    iphone 3gs 32gb (brand new)
    £35/month tariff
    18 month contract

for free - phone coming tomorrow. Was well worth persevering and the amount of calls made to o2 as this should have been £279. She first told me I could have the 16gb new for free but then I asked about the 32gb and she said I was in luck and I could have it for free, she said not many people are offered that.

The best I was offered before today was a 16gb refurb for free on 18 month £35/month or 16gb new phone free on £35/month 24 month contract.

That's pretty good! I'm due an upgrade on Sunay, only a few days to wait! How did you get that? Were you on a higher tariff before?
  • Thanks Siobhan, very helpful, will def keep it in mind!

I've added more to my earlier post, but no, I've always been on the £35/month tariff. It really is pot luck who you get through to, just keep trying every day.
  • has anyone who as taken out the iphone 3gs with tesco mobile on the 12 month contract taken or been offered insurance.

Trying to find out how much it would be as can only find reference to normal PAYG insurance on their website no mention of iphone.

    cheers

I realised after I had brought the phone that they had not offered me any insurance that must be a first with mobile phone companies

Siobhan can tell you didn't buy it from CPW you would have struggled to get out the door without the so called obligatory insurance

They used to lie to people and say you could not have an iPhone unless you took the insurance "company policy" lol

Re those asking about iPhone insurance

I have done a bit of research on this

O2 and CPW both offer schemes but they are very expensive circa £15 a month

there's a couple of companies Martin has mentioned in one of his articles cant remember the name think one is phoneguard
But they don't really seem to want to insure high value phones and if they do the cover is lousy

All those offering iPhone insurance exclude loss

Reading users stories about any iPhone or indeed any mobile insurance the companies won't insure for loss only theft and possibly water damage and fraudulent use

There are a lot of horror stories out there with companies trying to wriggle out of claims

Basically with no loss cover offered by anyone If you did lose it you're not covered or you end up lying and saying it was forcibly stolen from you

Insurance companies are very well equipped these days to work out who is lying though

The only thing i can suggest is try your home contents insurance under the items away from the home Some companies do cover these items or if your a careful phone owner Self insure where you put the money away in a tin or something each month if you need to get a new phone you have the money and if you don't need to claim a bit of spending money for yourself Not good if you have a problem early doors as there wont be much money in the pot though.

    Hope this helps
