Hey there, I would like to buy some bits at Top Shop and would like to save some money as having twins in December so need to save as much money as possible! There are currently no codes for TOPSHOP however if you have a NUS card number you can use this to get 10% discount. I dont have one and my friends dont either at the moment. If anyone has one please could you let me know.

    Thanks

  • I agree the NUS card doesn't give you all the 'exclusive' discounts as advertised, my uni newspaper even ran an article on it. Most places here who were supposed to be NUS 'exclusive' accepted normal university IDs. http://xmedia.ex.ac.uk/newspaper/2008-05-19

Seriously though people, it is only £10 and nobody is forcing you to buy it. The money goes to a good cause anyway, profits are split between your students union and NUS, which campaign on your behalf. I really don't understand why students complain so much about having no money, the government basically gives you money to study (ok you do have to pay it back, at a ridiculously low rate though), which most people end up blowing on alcohol. Sounds like a hard life to me!

I've just used my student card ever since I started uni, I never have any problems with getting discount with it. The NUS extra card is totally useless IMO, even in the places you can get discount with it listed on the website I can just use my student card.

I've had the card since September, and it has already paid for itself.

I have used it more than once in Peacocks, and recieved 20% off everything, which was lucky as I was buying my children stuff. lol.
    10% off in Superdrugs.
    10% off at Subway
    10% off at New look
    10% off at Matalan
    10% off at Ryman
10% off at Waterstones, plus an extra 10% over the weekend
I think it was 10% off at Amazon

To name a few, and most of the purchases were for the children. School materials and general clothing. lol.

have not done the cinema, but I usually go to the kidsam thing, and that is just £1 for the child and nothing for me. :p

Mcdonalds, its a long time since I stepped foot in one, better choices out there so might have changed. The way to find out if its Mcdonalds or of just renting the name if the sauces. The ones renting the name charges for these.

I've never had any problems with NUS cards. I wasn't overjoyed when they started charging for the 'extra' card however I must admit it was a good investment. I couldn't even put a figure on how much I've saved and hopefully there will be more to come, with it being a ISIC card as well I can use it interrailing next month (woop!).

It's not an ISIC card too anymore - you have to pay extra. It was last year, it's not this year year :(

But you can get most of those with reguar Uni ID... The only sticky one there is amazon, where it has to be an NUS extra card.

  • To all the people saying you get a student card at uni, that's all very well but if you're still in sixth form/college it's pretty annoying being forced to pay for adult-price tickets for the cinema and stuff when you're still technically a child (i.e. under 18), so it is worth having a card like NUS extra or ISIC if you go to the cinema or use Amazon a lot since it pays for itself.

I've got the NUS card which I had to pay for, and after not going into HMV for nearly a year I was rather annoyed when the guy at the till rudely said that he couldn't accept it for student discount, as apparently I needed a special HMV card. Whenever I'd asked for one before, I was told "oh no you don't need one because we keep them at the till" so I tried to explain to the guy but he just refused, and said I'd have to wait until September for next year's cards.
My NUS card has been rather useful when going to the cinema though, they keep on putting the prices up and it's just getting silly really.

Its not the guys fault hes following procedure
