    GOT 'EM!!!

The Guild of Will Writers 01634 386678

I answered the phone after 1 ring and they were there at last.

"Can I speak to the home owner or resident please?"

    "Yes, that me"

"Hello Mrs M, I am calling from The Guild of Will Writers, have you written a will?"

"No, I haven't, have you heard of the Telephone Preference Service?"

    "Yes I have"

"Right then, your company have been ringing me and hanging up since September and I am absolutely livid. How a company can do that to someone and then expect them to deal with them as a business I just don't know"

    "I wasn't aware of that"

"Well you must have some kind of dialler and I shall be making a complaint, I am disgusted"

"You do that!" - not a very nice tone of voice  but then neither was mine :p

"I'd like you to remove me from your database"

    She hung up

Yes, I know it wasn't her fault and I generally take that into account but this one has really annoyed me.

I've had two calls from them, one at 4pm yesterday and one this morning about ten minutes ago. I didn't pick them up as I have caller ID and iddn't know the number, I know now not to pick it up but if they are going to be a nuisance and keep calling it would be useful if anyone else can give us any more info on them.

I had one last night and one just now. Very odd!

Sometimes they don't even have your number to begin with, the computer dials the numbers randomly and flags the number for later harassment if it's answered.

Often when you receive a call and the line goes dead, it's because the company calling you have a call centre with x number of lines. The computer manages the calls, makes lots of calls simultaneously and drops those which are answered but which don't have operators to take them.

I just had a third or fourth call from that number within a week or so. Twice today. Having found the number in my caller list I did a quick web search and turned up this thread, hence me posting here.

The number is similar to that of some friends of ours so despite having caller ID I answered it on the the last three occasions.

On the first couple of times I answered it, the call terminated immediately; the last time I answered, a caller said my name with a questioning inflection and when I said yes the line went dead again.

I'm ex directory, a member of TPS/MPS, etc. and very careful about to whom I give my home phone number, so I'm intrigued as to how they've obtained my name and number.

It concerns me that they may have other details to go with that information, such as my address.

Is there anyone to whom I should report this?

    Thanks.

Ring BT nuisance caller line. They will trace the number for you. I had a similar experience a few years ago and when it was traced it turned out to be a call centre in South Wales. They barred the number for me and I have never heard anything since.

If your registered for TPS and your getting unsolicited calls you should complain to them, they do take complaints seriously.
