Nuisance Calls

over the past few days someone has been telephoning me but hangs up, not just when i answer but other members of my family. when i dial 1471 it tells me the number, but im not brave enough to telephone them back asking why they ring then hang up.

my question was, is there a way i can find the owner of this number, is there a web site that if you enter a phone number it tells you the persons name and address.

this number is not a mobile, i have the code and 6 digit number, im sure its only a mistake, but they always hang up, i can hear music playing in the background or TV playing. its so annoying.

can anyone help with this

Their is not a web site that gives you details of the renter of the number.

This website will tell you the exchange and the provider.

If the problem is not resolved and your on BT the Nuisance Call team can be contacted 24 hours a day on 0800 661 441. Or contact your providers customer service people.

its a shame there is not a listing to find numbers, i can find the number, name and address out of the BT directory, if i spend a week going through the A to Z

its only happened 3 times in a few days, im sure its innocent but you never know these days. If it was suspiciuous i guess the riinger would uses the 141 service to hide the number.

I know its an obvious one but have you tried googling the number?

Ring it back but withold your number when you do, I have done this before when I dont know whose number was in my phone!

I believe this happens because a computer selects your number to cold call but there are no operators to take the call, so it hangs up.

I've had it yesterday!!!

I can probably find the post code for the number using publically available data on the Carphone Warehouse website! It would probably take between 1 and 3 hours to do this, so you may like to ask me how to do it yourself! - Just send me a PM!

It will not tell you the property number though (on average one post code covers 15 properties)
