  • This may actually know fit more into the rant section of the board but as I have already started in this topic here I'll carry on. I have just interacted with h and i furnishing (see my post above), who now seem to say that they are h and i marketing, having spent several years myself working in the call centre industry I can honestly say I have never come across such appalling customer service.

As for complaint handling - it was none existence and appeared to consist of arguing all the details with me. Including the fact that such an agent existed, despite the fact the previous staff member admitting that she did!

So far they have tried to tell me that as a phone holder we need to regularly update the tps (it's them that are suppose to check quarterly). This latest "managers" boss apparently is in Scotland but doesn't have anything to do with the running of the business!!

Has anyone else had the joy of dealing with them? I know that Sunday evening is really not the best time to be trying to sort this out, as any management who can do anything are not going to be in work. I would like to put my complaint in writing to the md/ company owner. I suspect all that's happening at the moment is I'm being passed around the actual team all pretending to be various levels of management - but then I could just be a cynical sort, from knowing the tricks that unprofessional outfits can try and pull in call centres!!

Ok, I've done a bit of digging round on MSE and found SilentCall-Gard and registered our home phone with their free service. Hopefully this will put a stop to at least the silent calls. Anything else, I'm going to get the number and tell them to either get us off the call list or I'll report them.

    SilentCall-Gard

Problem is the more you give your home number out (to anyone) the more spam calls you'll received. I limit my home phone to only a very few and those who do call (local companies usually blinds and windows etc) get well told off. I'd say over the last 12 months I've had only 2 spam calls and they were local people (using a guess list or some old PC application which spits out numbers).

It's all about data so I'd not give my details to ukdatait.co.uk as they are privately owned and as we know private companies will kill to make money. I have registered with the preference services like www.tpsonline.org.uk and that seems to work. I don't give my home phone to any utility company, shops etc. The only private companies would be my bank (and I don't really trust them as they gave out my phone number once) and that's because I may want them to speak with me. Any other company can have one of my mobile numbers (I have several) and if I order something I'll specially turn on a particular SIM. Otherwise they can all !!!! off. Get some free SIMs www.virginmobile.co.uk/promo/duoSim.html or type 'free sim' into google.co.uk

Like I say, the less you give it out the less people will [legally] have it. If they need a number give them a mobile number.

If you had pressed 1, it would have put you through to an agent, you could then waste their time at their expense! :D

My parents have been receiving up to 40 calls a day from this Rachel?? BT say they can't do anything, as there is no number available.

    They are TPS and Ex-D.

If they press 1 will they not get charged on their bill some how? I thought thats how these scams work?

    It is driving them mad!!

    Thanks

EDIT: I finally gave in and pressed 1, had it confirmed that the call was costing me nothing, then proceeded to inform them of their continuous calls we have been receiving. The man said the company was called "once in a lifetime" and it sounded like an Indian call center. I asked to speak to someone higher but he mumbled and hung up.

hopefully this will be the last we hear from them
  • sorry for the double post, but after lots of research, trawling the internet and talking to people in call centers, I have finally found the company behind this.

We have received another 40 plus calls already today, despite asking numerous call center members to remove us from their list.

I have now found the companies web site, and a number for their UK representative

    http://onceinalifetimeholiday.com/contact.html

    Florida based company

    0-208-150-3665 United Kingdom

I dont know if anyone is getting as many calls as we are, but it is insane the amount of calls we get, and is making us all go crazy.

After speaking to a women at the end of the UK number, I am hoping that today will be the last day of calls?

No, you won't be charged, these scams are just urban myths.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
