    I signed our home phone number up to this service some time ago and until recently, it was great. No sales or other nuisance calls. Somehow our number has got out and we're being plagued with calls. I can trace it to about the time we switched to Sky for our phone/tv/BB.

    I've checked with TPS about this and they aren't in a position to do anything about it. My next stop is Sky to see if they can help.

    Anyone else with suggestions, please post them!

    I am registered with these but they started again after a few weeks of stopping.I've just checked and they don't take complaints for silent calls,which is what these are.Thanks for your help anyway.....

    We're having the same problem. I notice tho that the nuisance calls started about six weeks ago, when we switched our phone/tv/BB service all to Sky. Up til then, we had no problem with unwanted calls.

    Ok, I've done a bit of digging round on MSE and found SilentCall-Gard and registered our home phone with their free service. Hopefully this will put a stop to at least the silent calls. Anything else, I'm going to get the number and tell them to either get us off the call list or I'll report them.

    Wait for the company to give away their name, get all the details, ask how they got the number, and then report to TPS.

    They do follow these complaints up :)

    I don't think you can stop these calls to be honest. Are you ex directory?

    Yes we are. Or were while with BT. I don't know if that still stands with Sky. I've since found out two 0800 numbers were Littlewoods Direct.

    Sadly just a coincidence, unless you told Sky or ticked boxes to say you wanted calls, mailing etc fron non-Sky companies.

  • We've had a highly rude lady ring this morning saying she was from "h and i furnishings", when asked "how did you get this number" the reply given was "Don't talk to me like that b****" followed by a hang up. Since then the phone has been going pretty constantly with silent hang ups - hopefully she's on commision so silly games like that is just wasting her time and costing her money.

    I can't find any trace of the company to speak to management etc (She'd already given her name - or at least the one she was using today). Anyone know of them?

    We're registered with tps etc so I will also be registering a complaint with them.

    I finally managed to get rid of the first (anonymous) company by quoting the law to them - I mentioned Reg 21 of The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 and they had hung up before I had finished what I was saying & haven't rung back since (that was 6 months ago). Did the same with 0121 273 3761 & they hung up straight away as well - only time will tell if they don't call back but I'll pursue my TPS complaint anyway.

    Had these guys too! Pain in the !!!!.....
