    From the Telephone PreferenceService website:

    Silent Calls
If you have been troubled by calls where the phone rings but on answering there is no one there, you can register with a separate service called Silent Callgard.

Silent calls are generated by automatic dialling equipment which dial more numbers than there are operators available to take the calls.

Silent Callgard is a free service, however it may not prevent the receipt of all silent calls as it is a voluntary scheme.

The number to call to register for Silent Callgard is 0844 372 2325.

This service is not managed by the TPS.

  • Should i call BT ?
Better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.
  • Yes, but let it ring once then hang up. See how they like it. :D

If it IS bt calling you do they not have an option where you can say you don't wish to receive marketing calls?
Or else do what I do and have an answer phone to screen calls. If it's someone who hangs up I don't bother calling back, and if its someone I want to speak to I will pick the phone up!

It's probably an automated marketing call. The idea being that you call them back on a freephone number which gives them the opportunity for a sales pitch!

Phone them back and then give them a rocket, but keep details on who it is and go from there!

    Good luck!

It suggests here its BT Accounts Dept http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/08000282272
Do you have an account with BT .

Registering for TPS etc want do you any good they are allowed to call and talk to you about your account with them if you have one.

You can report them to Ofcom.

Called about 20 times over the last week.

I sent them a message at http://www.leadx.com/contact.htm and I suggest others do the same:-

You keep calling my telno at all hours of the day and then hang up.

I have reported you to trading standards, Which and watchdog and they tell me they have received many complaints from your cold calling number 0845 6850048

I have also reported you the the MPS!

    STOP CALLING ME!
  • Be very careful when putting your details into any on line comparison site or indeed the insurance companies direct websites, they often sell their data or give it to companies like LeadX to call. They can continue to sell this on numerous times. It is the same with any finance sites.
  • I used confused.com and Budget Insurance was too expensive. I have had a phonecall and email since.

Hopefully they will get the message that I have shopped elsewhere.

I only gave my mobile phone so get peace at home!
