Report to ofcom if TPS cant help - after googling the number it comes up as a telemarketing firm - try the who calls me website for further info.

ask your mum to whenever she phones to hang up after 3 rings - then dial again

then you'll know when it's your mum phoning.

The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is the central opt out register on which you can record your preference not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls to your home or mobile telephone numbers. It is a legal requirement that all organisations (including charities, voluntary organisations and political parties) do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS unless they have your consent to do so.

That website should resolve your issue in time, unless the silent calls are not from a business / charity?

We've had 5 calls from these people tonight (all showing as international). I asked where they got our number from and was told 'BT' (we're also registered with TPS). I was told to 'be calm' and my husband was asked 'so you don't want to help anyone?'

No doubt they will call again :rolleyes:

I am getting nuisance calls from a mobile number on the house phone. Its some kid on the other end who just giggles and mumbles hardly creepy, just annoying! I reported the number to the police who said that they would phone the number to try and warn the person off, I doubt this will help though.

I keep getting calls from various numbers, sometimes number withheld, sometimes an 0845 number: 0845 206 8173 / 08452068173 and sometimes a freephone number: 0800 0135333 / 08000135333
I only recently moved in and it's a new number, not in phone book and I have hardly given it to anyone. Registered with TPS a month ago but still getting calls - sometimes 7 or 8 calls a day. :mad:
